Business Unit Overview
The Data Integrity Group is responsible for complete, accurate and timely data to support the investment process of Company and Company Solutions Clients. This data includes security terms and conditions, credit data, market data, and valuations necessary to correctly model and price all financial instruments in Company's propriety trading system, Aladdin.
The team supports a follow the sun model with global representation in Singapore, Mumbai, Bangalore, London, Edinburgh, Delaware, Princeton and San Francisco. The UK group consists of a team of 6 in Edinburgh and a team of 2 in London.
Job Purpose/Background
Analysts in the Data Integrity Group will gain a broad understanding of the key data elements necessary to support all functional disciplines within Company and have an opportunity to become a Subject Matter Expert in one or more asset types in order to support the portfolio management process. In addition, analysts will gain an understanding of the Aladdin data model and all data vendor relationships necessary to support the assets under management on the Aladdin platform, as well as participate in projects to improve processes and support new product rollouts. As a Data analyst you will gain a broad perspective of Company as you support multiple internal functions. Examples of career progression for analysts have included roles within Portfolio Analytics, Portfolio Management, Software Development, Risk Management, Business Analysis and advancement within the Data Management Operations team.
Key Responsibilities
Daily support of trading process with regards to data requirements for Company and Company Solutions’ Clients
Daily quality control and validation of time series data including security indicative data, terms and conditions, reference, payment, and analytical data, and occasionally trading, index and corporate action data
Liaison with market data vendors and market dealers to obtain the most accurate data
Interact with internal and external clients to serve as a financial services helpdesk, managing expectations of service delivery, and provide superior customer service
Operate as part of a global team with consistent service and process
Constantly evaluate process and procedures for inefficiencies and make recommendations for improvement
Maintain procedural documentation and update as necessary
Perform testing of in-house software and external vendor products
Knowledge/Experience
A working knowledge of fixed income, equity, derivative instruments and finance is required as well as the skill and ability to work in an entrepreneurial and team oriented environment
The candidate must have enthusiasm for, and comfort with, working in a dynamic environment whilst maintaining the quality and integrity of the investment data and working to tight deadlines.
Flexibility with regard to working hours is necessary
The candidate must have the ability to quickly learn the intricacies of complex financial instruments and their impact on downstream applications and processes
Excellent communication skills are required along with the ability to interact effectively and confidently with internal and external clients
A university degree in Finance or Computer science is required
Previous exposure to Bloomberg, Reuters and FT Interactive Data is required
A working knowledge of technical tools such as SQL, Unix commands, PERL etc is a plus
