Quest Objectives
Blizzard wants a student bent on becoming an exceptional IT professional to join us in summer 2018 as a BIIS data center intern. You’ll be working and learning alongside a group of network / system administrators and engineers, all with the goal of supporting, maintaining, and optimizing a worldwide IT environment. The ideal candidate is a dedicated problem solver who can prioritize and handle many different tasks at once in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
• Learn to operate, monitor and maintain power, cooling and life safety systems that are critical to data center availability
• Responsible for installing new servers or other networking equipment
• Perform data center inventory and asset management
• Document and diagram data center floor plan, rack layouts, and power usage
• Assist with hardware installation
Eligibility Requirements
• Currently enrolled in a college or university, or planning to enroll in Fall 2017
• Returning for at least one more semester or quarter following the Summer 2018 internship
• Able to work fulltime hours for 11 – 12 weeks at the Blizzard office indicated in this job posting between May 2018 – August 2018 or June 2018 – September 2018 (group dates depend on when you get out of school)
Level Requirements
• Basic understanding of multiple IT infrastructure disciplines such as networking, messaging, database administration, telecommunications, storage, servers and enterprise applications
• Passion for technology and gaming
• Solid written and verbal communications skills
• Able to work well with individuals in multiple departments
• Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Able to act quickly, competently, and confidently
• Able to use discretion when presented with sensitive information or confidential issues
