Department Profile
The cornerstone of Company's risk management philosophy is the execution of risk-adjusted returns through prudent risk-taking that protects Company's capital base and franchise. Risk Management protects the Firm from exposure to losses resulting from defaults by our lending and trading counterparties.
Credit Risk Management (CRM) evaluates credit risk transactions and approves, rejects or modifies them considering the availability and appropriateness of arrangements for reducing risk or risk mitigation. The department also assigns Internal Credit Ratings; establishes and manages credit risk limits in accordance with the risk tolerance established by the Board; monitors and reports on credit risk exposures on a regular basis to the Chief Risk Officer and senior management. CRM also interacts with business units to ensure that credit risk assessments are factored into business decisions.
Primary Responsibilities
The role will support the Credit Risk Department in driving and delivering key initiatives. Responsibilities are likely to include at least parts of the following:
• Working in the EMEA Credit Central Functions team reporting to an Executive Director, support with the management of high profile regulatory projects from start to finish, including the delivery of remediation plans to address regulatory gaps
• Provide a significant contribution to the scoping and articulation of Credit Risk projects and remediation activity
• Challenge the appropriateness of deliverables to address gaps or areas of remediation in the Credit Risk framework, and ensure consistency across remediation work
• Support with the closure of regulatory gaps relating to IMM and IRB as identified in the Capital Requirements Regulation self-assessments
• Contribute to plans articulating the firm’s intraday and etrading credit risk management strategy
• Support with the definition and delivery of enhancements to the Credit Risk framework, which may include legal entity risk management and stress testing
Qualifications
Skills required (essential)
• Experience in Risk Management at leading financial institutions
• Experience of managing Risk change projects with multiple stakeholders
• Good understanding of core credit risk functions
• Good level of experience relating to the interpretation and application of new regulations
• Strong communications skills, verbal and written and ability to build relationships internally and externally
• Ability to work independently in a self-directed way
