With the assistance of your LPK guide, you will learn business fundamentals in a creative environment and gain exposure to brand identity management and design. A Peek Inside the Life of a Client Services Intern:
• Assist the team and confidently help manage projects that nest within an established brand/design strategy, understanding the purpose of each initiative.
• Our interns focus on the internal artwork process by efficiently and effectively organizing, communicating and distributing project information to the brand team.
• You will be assigned to one or more brand teams. You will be treated like one of us—we will challenge you and expect you to challenge us.
• Think of yourself as the heart of the team—they will depend on you to track deadlines and provide them with timelines.
• Help the team manage internal communications and help manage workflows.
• Demonstrate your passion for design.
• Begin to understand some aspects of a brand (competitive landscape, business objectives, design strategy, project integration). You don’t have to be an expert, but begin to immerse yourself in the brand-building industry.
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of artwork by working against project objectives.
Expectations:
• Success will be measured by timeliness, accuracy, your team’s satisfaction and achieving project deliverables.
• You will meet with your brand team members regularly to review project status—don’t be surprised if you are asked to lead a meeting.
• They will look to you to provide project updates and notifications.
• The wide variety of work experienced at LPK may provide opportunities for additional assignments. Some students will be given more work or more challenging/rewarding assignments, depending upon demonstrated individual skills and motivation.
• You will also be required to contribute to the management of a long-term project, to showcase what you have learned at the completion of the intern period.
• Anticipate and problem solve for potential project issues.
• Approach each project as if it were your first—bringing ambition and tenacity to your work—don’t be afraid to ask questions!
• Adapt easily to changing environments.
• You have permission to make mistakes—but we expect you to learn from them.
• Be curious, ask questions.
• You’re not expected to know it all—if you’re in over your head, call the right people before it’s too late.
• Don’t allow yourself to get complacent or be comfortable. Keep yourself inspired, seek out learning.
• Gain broad experience and exposure to LPK’s core competencies.
• Like everyone, we ask that you comply with company policy and honor our company values, purpose, beliefs and vision.
• Utilize technology for efficient workflow (Basecamp, Box, Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Keynote, etc.).
The Pre-Req’s & Fine Print:
• Minimum education: Sophomore year in Business Management, Marketing, Design, Advertising or Liberal Arts major relevant to business
• Co-op must maintain a GPA of 3.0–4.0+
• Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Interest in the Design field
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Knowledge of Macintosh platform a plus
