The Cinematic Lighter will be responsible for setting up scenes that look visually appealing without compromising framerate. They will be skilled at building light rigs and creating post-effects for cinematic cutscenes. They are responsible for generating the mood and atmosphere while maintaining visual consistency throughout the game. Ideal candidates will be very organized with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
• Create powerful images with colour, materials and lights.
• Determine correct exposure for a scene.
• Establish the colour palette for a range of scenes
• Maintain continuity and performance throughout the scenes and the game.
• Respect and follow direction, yet push visuals whenever appropriate.
Required Technical Skills and Experience:
• Strong ability to work from reference materials.
• Strong ability to light interior and exterior scenes.
• Enthusiastic about film, photography, video games, and painting.
• Degree in Computer Graphics, Computer Science, Art, or a diploma in Photography, Computer Animation, or Film Studies.
• Solid Experience in at least one of the industry standard, including Maya, Houdini, XSI, 3D Studio Max, and Lightwave. Familiarity with other relevant programs is a plus.
• Experience using industry standard game engines and 3D packages (Maya, Houdini, etc).
• Background in physics and art including colour theory, film theory, principles of design, and physics of light.
• Strong understanding of rendering, lighting, shading networks, polygonal modelling, and texture UV’s.
Performance Competencies:
• Candidate must be meticulous, detail oriented, driven, and need very little supervision.
• Must have the ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Experience working in video games and film preferred.
