Category Director - Training, adidas League Licensing
Purpose
Create endless energy within the category through a strong understanding of the market, consumers, as well as the marketing planning process. Effectively lead the category in product and process customization and inspire the cross functional team to create product ranges that fulfill the strategic goals and allow the company to meet or exceed annual financial equity, sustainability, and speed to market targets.
Key Responsibilities
• Set up marketing strategy Customization Process for footwear, apparel and/or accessories in alignment with business unit and brand strategy for industry leading position
• Prepare and deliver Product Range Briefs, work with functions: communications, design, operations to deliver an industry leading product range
• Influence and execute the direction to inspire and build BU through a personalized approach to products and stories
• Maintain and build on all BU sustainability platforms across products and process
• Lead fast paced, complex, global Customization projects for footwear, apparel, and/or key brand events ensuring alignment with category and brand strategy
• Manage the relationship with the inline product creation team to determine opportunities for creation of customized products that bring together the consumer and the adidas brandCreate BU direction and strategy and proactively set range direction for B2C, B2B, and miTeam/miadidas ranges
• Identify new business opportunities to drive innovation and/or commerciality on shorter timelines that allow for quick responsiveness
• Partner with digital brand marketing, eCommerce, retail and other stakeholders to translate product and consumer experience demands into concrete requirements for our internal and external vendors to use in order to build front and back end capabilities
• Build and optimize market / retailer network for qualitative product feedback
• Benchmark and challenge all service and interlinked departments (Design, FAD, Project Management, Costing) to create industry leading sustainability model across all BU functions
• Manage the range plan from product brief to commercialization and manage the processes (calendar, SKUs, amortization) for customization
• Manage a team and ensure organizational efficiency through appropriate motivation, training and development of direct reports
• Be an expert in consumer and market understanding (cultural drivers, consumer trends, competition, retail evolutions)
Key Relationships:
• Be the bridge and catalyst between Sports Marketing Service Unit and mi adidas teams
• Steer a strong relationship and ensure constant dialogue/feedback with the:
• business unit and across other BU´s
• inline cross-functional teams (Design, Development, GTM, Materials, Costing, Planning)
• markets and relevant key retailers
• digital teams within miadidas and miTeam
Qualifications
1. College degree, preferably in marketing/business
2. Minimum of 6 years Product Management experience within Footwear/Apparel
3. Passion for Sports
4. Experience in trade or sales is helpful
5. Interpersonal skills
6. Strong management skills
7. Good numerical skills
8. Fluent English
9. EDP/PC skills (MS Office programs)
Language Skills
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Reasoning Ability
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
