Buyer - Outfit Kids

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Girlswear Buyer to join Outfit Kids and be part of Company’s first Kidswear brand.
The Role
The purpose of this role is to develop a commercial and credible range, and lead a team to deliver results, whilst working collaboratively with the Design and Merchandising team. What You Will Be Doing Day To Day
• Developing the product and strategy of the department keeping on top of competitor activity
• Range planning for the department
• Managing the supply chain and critical path for the department
• Work collaboratively with the Merchandiser and Designer to achieve marketable ranges, continually improving product quality, trade the range and manage its performance throughout the season
• Strategic thinking while seeing the ‘big picture’
• Operates as a business manager, overseeing the team and their processes, demonstrating best practise
• Operates an effective / timely product sign off process, appropriate for product lead-time - “Buying Calendar”
• Works with Management team, defines and communicates clear vision of the future – translates into understandable goals and targets
• Displays an in-depth, customer-focused knowledge of market and trends.
• Ensures that the product reflects the Brand strategy, the range is without gaps or duplication, and that the season is logically and commercially thought through
• Ensures that the correct level of newness / high fashion is present, and that volume lines are maximised and ‘moved on’ at the appropriate time
• Operates as a business manager, overseeing the team and their processes, demonstrating best practise.
• Working with a Junior Buyer to manage, develop and motivate a team of one Assistant Buyer and a BAA.
Must Haves
• A proven track record of driving the business forward in a knitwear department
• An eye for spotting key trends
• Outstanding commercial awareness, with a strong understanding of the high street
• High attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills with the ability to deal with people at all levels
• Good time management, prioritisation, negotiation & organisational skills
• Strong presentation skills
• Strong people management skills – someone to lead by example as well as perform as a team player and can perform well under pressure
