Mediapost Independent Media Agency of the Year Company, Inc., headquartered in New York City, is the largest independent media services company in the world. We are currently looking to hire aBrand Strategy Supervisor in our Brand Strategy Department.
Expectations:
• Ability to problem solve, develop creative media solutions, understand & interpret media research/math analytics, motivate Planners and Assistants, collaborate with brand teammates.
• Oversee development of media strategies consistent with brand marketing objectives
• Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinates and handle all personnel requirements for immediate staff including training and development
• Develop a positive and close working relationships with client/creative agencies
• Ensure the accuracy of work/projects prior to issuing
• Strong overall knowledge of the client’s business objectives as well as competitive category
• Keep up to date with client industry news and social trends
• Implement work-related goals as established by Brand Manager
• Effectively manage the workload of subordinates and the expectations of Brand Group Manager or Managing Director
• Direct andoversee requests & communication to HMI Groups (OOH, Interactive, BGD’s) and to external media vendors
• Keep Brand Group Manager abreast of overall workflow, status, due dates
• Ensure a clear understanding of each brand’s target audience/ prospect in marketing, media planning and media buying terms
• Recommend targeted, innovative media vehicles consistent with marketing and media objectives & strategies
• Prepare and make presentations to clients regarding media recommendations, ensuring buy-in
• Manage client and internal expectations relevant to assignment deliverables
• Establish work-related goals and delegate assignments to team
• Establish atmosphere of trust among direct reports
• Encourage proactive initiative and team collaboration
• Understand internal tools used in media planning, marketing research
• Be fiscally responsible (client budgeting, internal cost controls)
• Understand the key drivers of client and Agency success
• Seek to ensure a clear understanding of each Brand’s target audience/ prospect in both marketing/ media planning and media buying terms
• Seek opportunities to advance the client relationship and build Agency business
• Participate in establishing department policy and ensures adherence to policies
• Provide recommendations for new business proposals
Outcomes:
Marketing Driven
• Develops complete understanding of the client’s business and utilizes this knowledge in building media presentations and selling through media strategy
• In collaboration with BGD, develop strategic marketing and media tactics to positively impact client ROI (sales, ratings, calls…etc.)
• Implement marketing protocol as established by senior management and guide Strategists understanding of it
• Steward processes for the management of strategic and tactical execution of all media products within the Brand team.
• Ensures relevance of the brand communication strategy
• Directs research that will aid in the consumer insight gathering and strategic planning process
• Identify and define marketing problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
• Under direction of senior management, develop familiarity with A/S, ROI and/or other relevant metrics to assess success of client marketing initiatives and address the ongoing needs for growth
• Keep up to date with existing/traditional as well as emerging and creative communication channels and media trends
• Be familiar with CCRI and Brand Insight advancements to apply to client strategy, as directed by BGD
• Understand internal (IZON, MRI…etc.) and external (4As, Persuadables, Mintel, etc.) resources to utilize in development of marketing initiatives/research
• Understand and be able to integrate proprietary client research findings into media recommendations and support
• Supervise the communication of client objectives to HMI departments
• Lead client meetings
Operational/Day-to-Day
• Understand all key agency resources and bring them together to produce exceptional results for the client
• Oversee day-to-day team workflow and deadlines
• Responsible for the review/feedback/additions of client POVs, white papers, budget documents, position reports, media authos and plan adjustments
• Maintain client relationships at appropriate level
• Track budget forecasts, provide accurate detail
• Oversee the development of media briefs and inputs
• Lead team development as it pertains to systems
• Encourage group and self to stay current in media field and client category by subscribing to trades/industry resources, seeking input from internal experts and sharing relevant findings with the team
• Ensure accurate and timely response to Client requests
• Attend all relevant internal/external meetings
• Adhere to HMI policies and ensure team members do same
• Be familiar with current Client contracts to ensure team operates accordingly (fees, traffic costs, overnight charges…etc.)
• Inform BGD of upcoming meetings and general account status
• Manage vacation requests and review approvals with BGD
• Oversee overtime and approve time sheets accordingly
• Participate in interview process for Assistant Strategist and Strategist levels
• Ensure media buys are being frozen by Assistant Strategist
• Ensure HMI deliverables meet company standards
• Put into effect procedures as defined by management for Best Practices
• Guide team in setting goals, project tasks & timelines including anticipating obstacles in process
• Establish orientation meetings with team members at the onset of new projects to help them clearly understand expectations and objectives
• Balance team workload to avoid overload
• Oversee and proof all work produced by subordinates
• Ensure comprehensive and timely conference reports are issued for all meetings (internal/external)
• Assess team’s/individual’s progress on projects and provide guidance when needed
• Develop working knowledge of computer resources to insure group’s utilization for optimal performance
• Alert appropriate management to any project issues and offer responsible solutions to address, as appropriate
• Ensure cross departmental relationships are developed and maintained at all appropriate levels of the account group structure
• Assist in New Business effort and maintain client case studies, as needed
Team Development
• Sets aggressive yet achievable performance goals for self and subordinates
• Foster team building atmosphere
• Personally build new skills and knowledge of team members to help them be more successful on the job
• Assess individual capabilities in areas of media, marketing and computer skills to identify training needs for improved performance
• Provide coaching to maximize individual and team success

• In collaboration with BGD, assess and facilitate career growth development for all team members
• Provide constructive feedback and recognition on an on-going basis to keep team members apprised of individual growth and to insure expectations are in line and achievable
• Keep BGD apprised of staff development on a timely basis
• Conduct formal reviews/MAPs for junior levels, oversee review of the assistant with the Strategist
• Inspires and motivates action across departments and disciplines; fosters teamwork
• Inspires and grows other agency staff; coaches and manages others to maximum potential as possible
Requirements:
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ media planning experience.
• Experience utilizing multiple media channels required.
• Strong client relationship management experience is a must.
• Experience in a relevant category/vertical a plus.
• Strong leadership and supervisory experience also a must.
