Department overview
The Harry Potter Global Franchise Development team is a corporate group based in both London and Burbank, charged with high level management of the relationship with JK Rowling and delivery of a one-company, lifecycle marketing approach to the management of the Harry Potter franchise globally.
The HPGFD team is led out of the London office, by Josh Berger, President & Managing Director UK, Ireland and Spain and co-managed on a day to day basis by Polly Cochrane SVP & CMO HPGFD in London and Paul Condolora, SVP HPGFD and HP Digital in Burbank
Harry Potter Global Franchise Development Objectives
1. To inspire and enable sustained business, brand and revenue growth for the Harry Potter franchise and its related properties (e.g. Fantastic Beasts).
2. To be a light and nimble team, integrated with the WB business units and combining deep knowledge of the brand with insight and expertise across our business.
3. To provide Warner Bros.,The Blair Partnership and Pottermore with a centralized franchise management team, delivering:
4. Leadership and oversight at a franchise level
5. Coordination of complex cross-divisional initiatives
6. Timely ‘one-company’ responses to proposals and questions
7. Management of flow of approval submissions
Summary of position
As a full-time member of the HPGFD team in London, the person in this role will be a key day to day contact with UK-based WB business units and Pottermore, building excellent working relationships and in particular co-managing the brand assurance process for WBSTL with the U.S. based contact. Working hand in hand with counterparts in the U.S. to deliver the departmental objectives, this role supports the Director, Brand Marketing with coordination and dissemination of marketing related information to international territories
Job responsibilities
• Develop an expert understanding of all Potter-related properties, including knowledge of the related rights and franchise sensitivities in order to be an enabler and source of guidance for all WB Divisions.
• Support the Director, Brand Marketing (London) and Director, HPGFD (Burbank) on the development of an internal Brand Guidelines intranet, gathering assets and best practices across historical Harry Potter campaigns.
• Responsibility for ongoing updates and maintenance of the Brand Guidelines intranet ensuring it remains relevant and useful to international markets.
• Reporting into the Director, Brand Marketing HPGFD, be the London-based point of contact for day to day liaison with Pottermore with the objective of keeping the relevant Warner Bros. Divisions abreast of any activity where there could be collaboration opportunities.
• Working to deliver departmental objectives and reporting into the Director, Brand Marketing HPGFD, become a point of contact within HPGFD for WB international marketing teams, highlighting franchise marketing opportunities and best practice, and facilitating approvals where required.
• Working with the U.S. based counterpart, be a point of contact in the London-based HPGFD team for WBSTL, responding to marketing-specific brand assurance queries.
• Supporting Director, Brand Marketing HPGFD, assist in the development and ongoing management of a cross-divisional creative asset database ensuring an in depth knowledge of asset status and legal clearances to speed up and simplify the sourcing of materials across the company and stakeholders
• Input into the production and weekly updating of a HPGFD status report, capturing all on-going conversations and initiatives
• Assist with the preparation of documents and presentations for key meetings
Knowledge, skills and experience
Essential:
• Extremely effective and tactful communication skills both written and verbal
• Proven experience in a franchise or global brand marketing role, either client side or account management
• Experience managing complex multifaceted projects with exceptional project management skills
• Experience managing multiple complex stakeholders with a high level of emotional intelligence and a demonstrated ability to work well across key partners
• Expert knowledge of creating and implementing digital marketing strategies – experience with different platforms and techniques
• Ability to be flexible to provide continuity and support to the needs of the International internal and external stakeholders
Preferred:
• Experience working on global franchises – marketing, brand and planning experience
• Demonstrable existing familiarity with the Harry Potter books and films
• BA/ BS level qualification preferred
