We are seeking an Assistant Character Artist to join our SW:TOR team in Austin. The Assistant Character Artist is an individual contributor on the art team that will facilitate the management and integration of character assets into the game under the direction of the Lead Character Artist and Art Director. This is a full-time, contract/temporary position up to 12 months in duration.
Key Responsibilities
• Skinning of assets and management of textures and LODing of high poly meshes.
• Assist in integration of character assets in game.
• As directed, interacts with peers or managers in other units/teams/projects and/or vendors.
Skills/Requirements
• Strong understanding of preparing models for animation and skinning
• Strong low poly skills
• A good understanding of texture and shader set up
• Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment is required
• Time management and organizational skills are essential
• Excellent attention to detail
• Preference towards applicants that exhibit:
◦ Technically savvy with strong problem solving skills
◦ Proficient with 3DSMAX
◦ Proficient with Z-Brush
**Portfolio Requirements**
A link to your portfolio must be included with your application/resume. All portfolios must contain a detailed shot breakdown of the work. It must be very clear what you, the applicant, are responsible for in your reel, screenshots, scanned pictures, web page portfolio, etc.
3D portfolio:
• Required: Modeling, texturing, and lighting applied to character or creature assets
• Preferred: Examples of the above in a low poly format
• Preferred: Unwrapped textures applied to characters and organics
2D portfolio (no originals please)
• Traditional painting work
• Color work and examples of tonal coordination
• Figure drawing
• Technical drawing
