Duties: The Audience Development Analyst will report to the Manager of Audience Development on the Data and Distribution team at CNN Digital. This role is primarily responsible for tracking and optimizing content across different touch-points including, but not limited to, SEO, Social, Newsletters, partnerships, and paid distribution networks. The Audience Development Analyst will have a detailed understanding of online audience behaviors with the goal to increase audience size, engagement and CNN Digital revenues. The analyst should be able to balance business and editorial objectives by testing and optimizing editorial content in real-time. He/She should have a passion for data and be able to analyze content performance and audience behavior.
He/She will measure and report performance of CNN's audience touch-points, and assess against goals and key metrics to help optimize our content distribution strategy and reach our target audience.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor in Science degree (STEM), Marketing, Journalism or related area of study, or a combination of relevant education and experience; Digital Media, Content Marketing or Agency experience is highly desired.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience optimizing and analyzing online media
• Advanced Excel skills preferred
• Experience with or knowledge of SEO, Social, and other digital data tools like Sprinklr, BrightEdge, Chartbeat, Comscore, Visualr and MailChimp preferred
• Solid knowledge of general website and analytics tools (Omniture preferred)
• Analyzing traffic patterns to CNN stories in order to surface non-obvious insights about how/why stories gain audience and early discover potentially trending content
• Experience in A/B and Multivariate testing preferred. Creating and testing hypotheses based on insights derived above
• Highly creative with experience in identifying and tracking target audiences and devising and optimizing digital campaigns
• DMP experience for audience segmentation desired, preferably Krux
• Ability to write basic headline copy; research target audiences and write to that audience
• Experience performing and optimizing paid traffic campaigns on search, social, and other websites
• Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking
• The ability to perform with a high degree of autonomy, demonstrate creativity and problem-solving skills and communicate complex messages to diverse audiences
• Ongoing tracking reports and analysis to evaluate campaign effectiveness
• Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in SEO, social, and online media
• A go-get-em, can-do attitude a must
