The digital team running Company website & Company website is looking for an experienced, internet-obsessed Assistant Social Media Editor to manage all the social media channels for Company website, which boast a combined audience of more than 8 million followers. Reporting to the Senior Social & Video Editor, this role will help create an engaging experience for our followers across Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest — as well as pitch, and occasionally write, social-first content for Company website.
Ideal candidates are deeply knowledgeable of the latest lifestyle news, entertaining, home and travel trends, hyper engaged on all major social media platforms, and equal parts creative and organized. Simply put: If you live on your Instagram and Facebook apps, obsessively following your favorite sites and personalities 24/7, and always think “Why didn’t I think of that first?” when you see something go viral, we want you.
Key Responsibilities:
• Working with the Senior Social & Video Editor to manage the overall strategy and daily programming of Company website social media platforms, focusing especially on Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram
• Tracking emerging news and trending topics to keep the entire digital team informed
• Pitching daily social-first editorial content, newsy and evergreen, for Company website, writing as time allows
• Partnering with design, editorial and the whole social team, including the GH-HB video team, to create social-first assets (videos, infographics, quotes etc.) for House Beautiful’s key social platforms
• Working with the editorial team to optimize and repackage original site content for social platforms
• Identifying and syndicating daily sister site content on Company website to increase traffic referrals and engagement
• Tracking performance of social media posts and referrals daily and providing weekly reports to digital team to help guide editorial strategy
• Attending important events and covering socially, as needed
• Launching and growing House Beautiful’s presence on future relevant emerging social media platforms
Desired Skills and Experience:
• 1-3 years experience writing and editing lifestyle-related content; experience programming social media for a major brand is a plus
• Daily (dare we say obsessive?) knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter trends and key competitive brands online
• Familiarity with Omniture, Chartbeat, Google Analytics or similar reporting tools — and experience tracking them daily
• Experience with basic HTML, content management systems, social media scheduling systems like SocialFlow or Sprinklr, and other basic digital production tools
• Keen ability to multi-task, stay organized and interact with multiple team members to take or give direction quickly
• Experience producing multimedia and/or knowledge of video- and photo-editing platforms a plus
