Overview: The Associate Director of Development is a member of the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation, the team charged with the identification and solicitation of philanthropic gifts to support Ole Miss student-athletes.
This position is responsible for:
Identifying, cultivating and soliciting major gifts at the $25K - $250K level. Building and managing a prospect portfolio of approximately 150 donors. Building relationships with key individuals, corporations, and foundations and participating in the support of fundraising activities and events by various organizations for the benefit of Ole Miss Athletics. Promoting the growth of revenue through innovative programming and marketing with the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation.
Major Duties of the job include:
Making a minimum of 180 donor visits per year. Aggressively identifying and soliciting major gifts for current capital campaign. Helping to plan and execute stewardship events for major gift donors and prospects. Participation in athletic development events as appropriate. This includes but is not limited to: home football game activities, on and off campus donor events and other athletic events containing a significant major gift donor presence.
Secondary Duties of the job include:
Representing the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics in a positive fashion by interacting well with donors, fans, alumni, and community members. Maintaining institutional integrity through the compliance of NCAA, SEC, and Ole Miss policies, rules, and regulations. Working some nights and weekends as well as traveling. Participation in relevant inter-departmental external teams. Assist in the development and implementation of future campaigns. Other duties and projects as assigned.
Minimum Requirements - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• 2+ years of fundraising experience in a college athletics setting.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal, organization, oral, and written communication skills.
• Competency and experience with office automation (use of Word, Excel or similar software applications, email and internet).
• Knowledge of the practices, principles, and methods of fundraising and general fund management.
• Demonstrated ability to be highly energetic, self starting, and creative.
• Willing to travel and attend various functions, meetings, and conferences.
• Ability to: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff and representatives from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Effectively work in a highly consultative and collaborative environment.
• Support the equity commitments of the department.
