Associate Director of Communications & Marketing
A little bit about our team:
Company’s Communications and Marketing team is responsible for the company’s internal and external brand and reputation. We manage press inquiries, write announcements, prep executives for speeches, manage the company’s social media accounts, host events, create advertising, and much more. We are a small but mighty team who shares a passion for music and the artists and songwriters we support.
We seek an Associate Director to support the department’s media relations activities. The successful candidate will develop and execute communications plans for WMG’s business including executive appointments and business deal announcements.
The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills, superior organizational skills, a willingness to work as part of a team, and a love of music. The Associate Director will report to the Vice President, Communications & Marketing.
You’ll get to:
• Prepare senior executives for national and local print and broadcast interviews, speaking engagements—including drafting briefing materials, talking points, Q&As
• Coordinate photo, print and broadcast media requests for WMG’s senior executives
• Draft and distribute WMG press releases to key national and trade media contacts
• Maintain relationships with key reporters across music, tech and business trade outlets
• Act as a spokesperson and champion for WMG and its leadership
• Create social media strategies for select projects and campaigns
• Create content for WMG’s website and social channels
• Write content for WMG’s internal newsletter, intranet and company-wide memos
You’ll be the fit for this role if:
• 6-8 years relevant experience preferred within communications, including media relations, internal communications, and social media
• Ideal candidate will have agency background or agency-orientated attitude to serving in-house “clients”
• Proven ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with a broad array of employees and constituents
• Experience working with and effectively influencing senior management
• Excellent communication/interpersonal/conflict resolution skills
• Excellent oral, written, and visual communications skills, including superior editing and proofreading abilities
• Experience identifying communication opportunities
• Strong love of music
