The University of Arizona Athletics Department consists of more than 180 staff members and coaches and sponsors 20 varsity sports programs. These 20 programs include more than 450 student-athletes who participate in the various sports programs annually within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). We are currently seeking an Associate Athletic Director for our Compliance unit. The Associate Director of Athletics, Compliance will oversee all aspects of the department’s Compliance unit, including the supervision of the Compliance Staff.
This position has a dual reporting line to the Vice President of Athletics and the Faculty Athletics Representative. A successful candidate is expected to work closely with all department staff, coaches, student-athletes, and campus partners to provide daily monitoring and education of all NCAA and Pac-12 Conference rules and regulations. Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Compliance Unit, including the management of staff and the directing of their responsibilities in the areas of Personnel, Recruiting, Amateurism, Financial Aid, Awards and Benefits, Playing and Practice Seasons, and Camps and Clinics. Conduct a comprehensive rules education program which must include sessions for staff, coaches, and student-athletes. Oversee the University of Arizona Athletics Substance Abuse Program. The Associate AD is required to provide interpretations on NCAA and Pac-12 rules to coaches and staff, maintain up-to-date knowledge of NCAA bylaws and their interpretations, and keep current on NCAA, Pac-12, and University of Arizona policies regarding athletic rules, including researching interpretations and precedents. Preparing and overseeing any required NCAA and Pac-12 reports and petitions. The Associate AD will be involved with all rules enforcement issues, including the conducting or inquiries and investigations into possible rules violations. Work in coordination with the C.A.T.S. student-athlete services units. Additional duties as assigned by the Vice President of Athletics and the Senior Associate Athletics Director, Administration.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• At least five years of experience in NCAA Athletics Compliance.
