MANDATE
The Analytics & Reporting group is accountable for continuous improvement of the analytics and reporting process across Profit Attribution Analysis (PAA) and P&L group for the Capital Markets trading business. The group requires specialized business and valuation skills. The group acts as a key escalation point for the P&L explanations and requires the applications of in-depth capital market product and P&L knowledge to ensure consistency and effectiveness of drilling down of the P&L drivers to support Capital Markets trading business.
The Associate Director is accountable for continuous improvement of the analytics and reporting process across Profit Attribution Analysis (PAA) and P&L group for the Capital Markets trading business.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
A. Main Accountabilities
• Perform analysis on P&L, PAA and Pricing on all desks in Capital Markets Trading Business
• Develop, design and implement report that provides daily P&L drivers in a manner that is easily understandable
• Develop and implement continuous improvement and change initiatives within P&L and PAA team
• Consolidate all P&L and PAA reports across all Capital Markets Trading Business
• Participate, as needed lead, projects/ task forces in support of major WBPO Line of Business and enterprise-wide initiatives.
• Implement internal business partner initiatives, ensuring operating needs are fulfilled to meet requirements.
• Foster an environment of continuous improvement and encourage the team to identify process improvements/ new ideas, and adopt best practices.
B. Managerial Leadership
• Provide coaching to the group in the areas of PAA, P&L and other related quantitative subjects to add values to BMO trading business
• Establish and maintain managerial practices (e.g., creating a collaborative environment) that build a high performance work environment within the team.
C. Relationship Building
• Develops and maintains strong, ongoing business partner relationships as they pertain to specific business mandates.
• Develops and maintains strong relationships with colleagues/peers (internal/external) to ensure consistent business objectives that will foster business growth
• Provides an interactive, corporate culture that promotes cross-team relationship building
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
This job requires the incumbent to interact with the following processes and/or groups in BMO FG:
• WBPO Leadership team
• Front Office (Line of Business Partners)
• Other corporate groups – finance, audit, risk management etc.
• Regulators/Auditors
Qualifications
a) Knowledge:
• MBA in Finance, Masters of Mathematical Finance, Financial Engineering, or equivalent degree
• 6 to 8 years of related experience in trading supports including P&L valuation, trading product operations or trading system development and design
• Solid knowledge of trading product systems and related financial engineering framework of derivatives, fixed income, equity and foreign exchange, and structured products
• Advanced knowledge and understanding of key products and its valuation methodologies, P&L related processes and controls
• Strong proficiency with Excel, programming knowledge in VBA and SQL, and experience with database maintenance and navigation
b) Skills:
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong time management and task prioritization skills
• Desire to act as a change agent and hosts the ability to influence this change
• Relationship management skills
• Strong planning skills (re finance, resource, input on strategy)
• Strong written and oral communication skills
