D1 is the internal creative agency setting design and brand direction for Company’s global brand. Our mission is to be the most customer-centric collective of creative thinkers, dreamers and doers. This manifests itself through visual design, branding, photography, video, and user experience design. We are responsible for the branding and creative development of style guides for a wide range of Company services, features, and categories (Prime, Devices, Fashion, Books, Movies, Music, Video Games, Electronics, Beauty, and many more). We're seeking an Associate Design Director with proven experience to assist in leading our brand team based in Seattle. You have successfully demonstrated taking business goals and turning them into inspiring world-class designs and a proven ability to motivate through vision and dedication to excellence.
Working alongside our senior creative leadership, campaign managers, and creative team while conceptualizing and delivering creative at a global level across all channels. You will understand the complexity of marketing and know how to set the visual standard for different categories in various global markets. A fearless design leader – someone who can inspire and lead creatively.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and strengthen brand assets, including style and usage guides, and collaborate with the design community globally to ensure consistency
• Mentor and inspire designers and attract/retain industry leading talent
• Enhance the team knowledge of best design practices and trends in design
• Work with the creative managers to improve the efficiency of the design team
• Present design solutions to senior level stake holders globally
Ideally the candidate will have outstanding creative talent, a strong foundation of visual storytelling, familiarity with the language of business, experience mentoring other designers, and the ability to work effectively and creatively under tight deadlines.
Daily you will:
• Mentor and manage a group of creatives, providing clear direction and constructive feedback
• Lead by example articulating and presenting creative ideas to teams and internal clients
• Collaborate with Designers, Copywriters, Illustrators, Art Directors and business leaders
• Work closely with Campaign and Project Managers to schedule deadlines, and resolve resource any delivery issues
Ideally you will:
• Be able to juggle multiple projects, lead by example and delegate work effectively
• Have strong leadership and mediation skills, enjoy mentoring and fostering growth of junior team members
• Can discern individual team members’ abilities and match the right people with the right work
• Are comfortable collaborating with people from different creative disciplines and teams
You will have:
• Extensive design experience in brand identity, art direction, web, motion, advertising and typography
• In-depth understanding of Adobe Creative Suite
• The ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills
• Self-motivation, flexibility and an impeccable attention to detail
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating visual branding, advertising and great user-centered design solution
• An understanding of the trends in the design and advertising industry
• In-house and agency experience leading design initiatives for global brands
• Bachelor's degree in design or equivalent professional experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and the ability to gracefully defend your design decisions to executive management
