Company, Inc., headquartered in New York City, is the largest independent media services company in the world. We are currently looking to hire an Associate Brand Group Director in our Brand Strategy division.
The role of the Associate Brand Group Director is to guide the Brand Strategy team in delivering industry-leading service in all key areas, including: marketing, consumer and channel insights, creative and effective channel planning, buy implementation and analysis, and account stewardship. The BGD will use their knowledge of traditional and emerging media platforms and strategies to ensure a comprehensive marketing approach to plan development. They will ensure Best Practices are developed and implemented across all areas. They will build and maintain relationships based on trust across all appropriate client levels, media partners, partner agencies and between agency departments. He/she will oversee the professional growth of the team through balanced project management, and the effective use of HMI tools and resources. The BGD will also serve an advocate for the agency and their Clients’ brands within the industry.
Main Responsibilities:
MARKETING DRIVEN
INDUSTRY RELATED:
◦ Maintain knowledge of industry/media innovations, and illustrate cross media knowledge
◦ Lead both internal and cross agency conversations with firm understanding of industry/media benchmarks and principles as well as how and why to use various media channels
◦ Firm grasp of industry changes/progress and its impact on HMI and Client goal
◦ Encouraged to be an active member of industry associations such as 4-A’s, AWNY, CTAM, including attending industry events, as appropriate
CLIENT FOCUSED:
# Seek opportunities to advance the client relationship for HMI
# Solid understanding of all Client’s product/services, marketing objectives, budgets, media requirements and target audience; ensure Client goals are being translated to the Brand Strategy team, activation teams and media partners while leading client conversations as it pertains to marketing direction
# Takes a leadership role in understanding and uncovering client motivations/needs
# Develop familiarity with Client categories understanding the competitive set and impact on client business
# Maintain fluency in media trends and leads Client’s understanding in how they impact Client busines
# Understand the business model and the key drivers of client and Agency
# Ensure accurate and timely response to Client requests
# Maintain client rapport at appropriate level, and champions trust among key Client contacts
# Evaluate A/S, ROI and/or other relevant metrics to assess the health of Client business, as well as the impact of marketing on its growth
# Ensure Client is aware of any new media ideas and gauge if any alterations to strategy/plans are necessary
# Attend relevant Client meetings
MEDIA STRATEGY: Provide direction based on Client goals with Managing Director to the Brand Strategy team and oversee all plan recommendation development and execution tactics generated by the team
DEVELOPMENT:
# Lead facilitation of Marketing Protocol as established by the Managing Director
# Plan, direct, supervise and coordinate projects and plan timelines of the team
# Ensure clear understanding of each client’s brand architecture/objectives/goals/KPIs and transfer that understanding to the Brand team as well as other necessary HMI departments internally
# Oversee the work and day to day of the Brand Strategy tea
# Collaborate with Managing Director on strategic marketing approach relevant to each Client and work as a point person for Client interface as needed
# Interpret proprietary client research findings and ensure they are being applied against media strategy/plan development
# Seeks to ensure a clear understanding of each Brand’s target audience/ prospect in both marketing/ media planning and media buying terms
# Inform the overall strategy so that the output from the Brand Strategy team is consistent with overall brand and marketing objectives
# Knowledgeable and experienced with HMI’s planning tools and able to apply to client’s business
# Develop rapport and info exchange with Director of Consumer Insights to better inform plan development
# Provide input on appropriate time to incorporate Scout, Treehouse, WHERE and WHY team into the development proces
# Provide marketing insight and strategic input to HMI teams and Client, providing thinking on strategy development and its potential results
# Apply the principles of planning including reach, frequency, efficiency and engagement measurements, etc
# Keep up to date and lead recommendations incorporating existing/traditional as well as emerging and creative communication channels
# Lead the implementation of Channel Planning Architecture
# Identify opportunities for the application of HMI planning tools including with CCRI, IZON, ProMatch based on project/Client needs
# Lead the team in application of standard industry tools (e.g.,Prizm, MRI, Telmar) as necessary based on Client objectives/goals
# Review and apply research implications
# Act as HMI cross agency lead
IMPLEMENTATION:
# Ensure all authorizations for activation have been signed and returned
# Oversee the activation of approved media recommendations to ensure all deadlines and details are met by the Strategy Team, internal activation groups and media partners
STEWARDSHIP:
# Campaign performance:
# Ensure that all campaign performance and post reports are submitted to the Brand Strategy team and are accurately issued to clients in a timely fashion
# Financial:
# Ensure timely receipt of estimate and final/reconciliation bills
# Work with Brand Strategy team and financial counter parts as well as activation teams as necessary to correct any discrepancies
# Track budget forecasts, provide accurate details
# Traffic:
# Ensure the team has issued traffic instructions and creative is running
TEAM DEVELOPMENT:
# Ensure the growth of the team and that resources of the team are balanced to maximize team output
# Guide team in goals and timeliness of projects including anticipating any obstacles which may slow the process
# Oversee workflow across the team and maintain efficient, balanced and equitable structure relative to client needs and available resources
# In collaboration with Supervisors, assess training needs of individual team members and facilitate career growth development for all team members
# Direct Supervisors and their respective teams in the performance of their internal (HMI) and external (Client) responsibilities
# Oversee Brand Strategy team collaboration to ensure Best Practices across all HMI teams
# Ensure less seasoned media employees at HMI are trained on media practices
# Provide appropriate recommendations to Managing Director regarding manpower and overall staffing on assigned accounts as well as offering solutions to any staffing concerns
# Assess and recommend training needs of Brand Strategy group in order to foster career growth
# Manage the review process of the team with the Strategy Supervisor
# Participate in the interview process of potential new team members
# Oversee, approve and manage team vacation schedules
# Put into effect controls and processes to assure the effective use of resources (primarily money and time) relative to staffing, OT, and admin costs (freelance, overnights etc)
# Maintain team motivation: design, recommend and implement appropriate programs
# Ensures that staff members take advantage of training offerings to continue their professional development
MISC:
# Provides Brand Team with an understanding of client SOW as it pertains to the day to day assignments and projects
# Collaborates with counterparts in establishing department policies and procedures, and present comprehensive recommendations to Managing Directors
# Ensure the accuracy of work projects prior to issuing by overseeing and proofing work of the team
# Oversee Brand Strategy team’s collaboration with all HMI Activation Teams in plan development
# Be familiar with and be an advocate of HMI standards and policies
# Assist in New Business effort and recommendation of staffing solutions, as needed, including proactive case studies
# Ensure that relationships with media partners are being maintained
# Identify Out of Scope project requests and work with MD to capture appropriate action and or contract addendums
# Work with MD to analyze support for the development/renewal of contract terms.

Background/Qualifications:
• Minimum 10 years of experience developing strategic media recommendations and stewarding media account projects
• Strong Leadership skills and experience developing a team of media professionals
• Experience in a client relationship management role
• Familiar with marketing principles and concepts
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving abilities
• Strong analytical abilities
• Strong command of media research and reporting resources
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
