Responsibilities
• Execute quality and fit standards in partnership with Production, Merchandising and Design.
• Ensure effectiveness and efficiency of technical activity and systems.
• Assist, evaluate, and provide recommendations for new vendors for domestic and offshore production.
• Ensure all vendors, factories and business associates adhere to the company’s quality standards and operating within compliance guidelines.
• Research and evaluate market seasonally for fit, construction, and quality to provide direction to technical team.
• Communicate with other offices and various departments to provide necessary technical guidance to achieve product fit and quality.
• Review previous seasons and establish new bodies and blocks to provide Technical, Merchandising, and Design teams with seasonal fit direction.
• Keep up to date with industry developments for example: new fabrics, construction materials, new techniques and processing.
• Ensure the company quality standards are competitive thru market assessment and evaluation.
• Follow the development and production cycle/timelines to ensure all technical deadlines are achieved.
• Alert management and business associates on high risk areas, which may impact on production.
• Review all sample prototypes that come back with regard to construction and fit and match to detail sheets.
• Input and updating style information in Web PDM system.
• Assist with pattern making duties and sample commenting.
• Attend fittings and take fit notes.
• Digitize patterns in the Gerber system.
• Communicate with factories on specific details of finishes.
Skills and Requirements
At least 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience in a technical/pattern position or internship(s) in appropriate area
Must be able to sketch flat technical sketches on Illustrator
Computer proficiency in MS Office: Outlook, Excel, Word
Excellent interpersonal skills supporting a team environment
Excellent English communication skills - verbal and written
Excellent time management/project skills
Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail
Ability to recognize and react to changing work demands
Comfortable and confident in making effective autonomous (and group) decisions in a timely manner
Goal oriented: ability to stay focused on creating winning results
Basic understanding of pattern making, draping, garment construction, grading, and factory production
Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Ability to execute last minute changes in a deadline oriented position
Ability to follow direction accurately
Shows initiative in a change oriented company
Ability to be flexible
