Responsibilities
This role is within the NBC News group and you should apply if you are creative, insightful and passionate about understanding our consumers and how we provide value to them. Our goal is to assist our internal team members including editorial, product and business to make informed data driven decisions. We do more than report numbers, we have to uncover and report the story that's hidden from plain sight.
The job reports to the Sr. Director of Insights, and requires you to be comfortable working independently as well as part of a larger team. You must be comfortable analyzing quantitative and qualitative data sets and weave them together to provide a deep understanding of NBC News consumers. You must thrive in a collaborative team environment while helping to build out processes, frameworks and best practices.
The Insights Assistant Manager is responsible for understanding and advancing the company’s knowledge of customer behavior through quantitative and qualitative analytics in order to develop strategies and recommendations to inform editorial, product and business objectives for internal stakeholders. The expectation is that this individual will become an expert on the "Voice of the Consumer" by developing and disseminating customer insights and analyses that support the needs of our internal stakeholders.
Major Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
Be a primary point of contact for internal stakeholders
Partner with internal stakeholders to understand and prioritize their needs to develop an insights roadmap
Synthesize customer insights and drive further research opportunities through quantitative analysis using Excel and other tools
Design, develop and present customer insight presentations to internal stakeholders
Create customer profiles, segmentation, and trending analyses through quantitative analyses
Work with Analytics and Insights team members to coordinate cross functional projects
Become a subject matter expert to drive understanding of internal data and tools, vendor relationships and overall best practices
Work closely with technical colleagues to understand what if any gaps exist in data and existing tools
Document requirements for future implementation
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Business, Economics, Data Science or comparable. Master’s degree a plus.
3-4 years analytic experience with Adobe reporting suite and other industry analytics tools a necessity
Must plan, be well organized and communicate with team members
Must be a master at Excel
Strong presentation skills a necessity
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and, PowerPoint.
Strong and creative analytical thinker. Our goal is to tell a story through data not just present numbers and charts.
Proficiency with statistical software a plus (SPSS or SAS preferred)

Strong listening + presentation skills are a plus
Ability to prioritize time and work in a fast paced environment
Qualitative research experience a plus
Experimental test design (A/B split, multivariate testing) experience a plus.
Ability to communicate with all levels of the business, prioritize & manage assignments to meet deadlines and establish solid relationships.
Experience working in an Agile/Kanban environment is a plus
Entrepreneurial; ability to drive forward with goals independently
