Job Title: Assistant Director for Marketing Department: Athletics Position Reports To: (Title) Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing FLSA: Exempt Position starts: 6/1/17
The Assistant Director for Marketing will work directly with the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing to create a distinct gameday experience while strengthening the High Point University brand in the local community.
POSITION SUMMARY:
• Help generate revenue, interest and awareness for 16 athletic programs at High Point
• Assist with the development and implementation of season ticket campaigns, group sales and single game ticket sales in order to increase attendance
• Provide support for all aspects of gameday promotions and maximize gameday experience
• Increase Community support and involvement to brand HPU as High Point’s TEAM
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assist with sponsorship cultivation opportunities by identifying sponsors for solicitation and cultivating existing relationships; this includes making new sales calls to potential sponsor prospects
• Help lead efforts to increase season ticket sales
• Work with current sponsors to help fulfill their specific promotions
• Implement advertising campaigns for specific sports
• Promote athletic events by designing materials, utilizing campus e-mails, campus TV’s, flyers, social media, campus and student organizations
• Work with community groups, guest acts, and large groups to entertain and enhance the game day atmosphere
• Write game scripts including the timeline for band, dance, and cheer
• Lead on-court promotions and coordinate crowd giveaways with sponsors
• Orchestrate video board graphics and audio
• Schedule and organize live National Anthem performances, halftime acts, and special presentations for specific sports
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business or related field or equivalent experience required
Experience and Training
• Minimum 1 years’ sales/marketing/development experience required
• Demonstrated understanding of marketing, college athletics and revenue production required
• Minimum 1 years’ experience in NCAA Division I Athletic Department preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with others
• Top-notch customer service skills and commitment to fan experience
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with potential sponsors and donors
• Ability to design marketing materials; proficient in use of Microsoft Office products and Adobe Creative Suite
• Ability to think creatively and act independently
• Strong oral and written communications skills
• Ability to manage a flexible schedule, including travel and attendance at all home and select road athletic events
