Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance - Syracuse University
The Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance is responsible for ensuring institutional compliance with departmental, University, state, federal, NCAA and ACC rules, regulations, and guidelines. The Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance assists the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance with the overall operations of the Office of Athletic Compliance including running day-to-day operations in the absence of the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance.
Responsibilities:
Prepare, organize, and administer a comprehensive NCAA rules education program for coaches, student-athletes, athletic department staff, constituency groups, boosters, and the Syracuse community; develop and implement the Elite Prospective Student-Athlete and Elite Student-Athlete Education and Monitoring program; assist in creating and developing policies and procedures within the Office of Athletic Compliance to streamline operations and make compliance efforts more efficient; manage NCAA governance, legislative, and policy matters including education on proposed changes as well as implementation of adopted changes; provide NCAA and ACC rules interpretations for coaches, student-athletes, athletic department staff, constituency groups, boosters, and the Syracuse community; conduct investigations into potential NCAA and ACC rules violations under the direction of the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance; write violation self-reports and waivers of NCAA rules as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance; take part in compliance related projects and perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance; and point person/liaison to various sports as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance.
A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree/Juris Doctor preferred. Minimum of three years of experience in applying Division I NCAA rules and regulations. Practical, working knowledge of NCAA and Atlantic Coast Conference rules and regulations with practical, hands-on experience in applying Division I regulations is preferred.
