The Assistant Athletic Director is responsible for assisting with the overall organization, direction, supervision, administration and day-to-day operations of Mansfield University's NCAA Division II athletic program. The Assistant Athletic Director will have primary oversight of all aspects of the NCAA Division II compliance program. NCAA responsibilities include but are not limited to completion of all required reports and forms; maintenance of NCAA CAi software; education of coaches, staff and institutional members on NCAA rules; and preparation of self reports.
The Assistant Athletic Director is also responsible for all aspects of game and event management to include hiring of work study staff; marketing; and the organization of NCAA eligibility forms including but not limited to squad lists, student athlete statements, drug testing consent forms, etc.
The successful candidate will: coordinate all facility reservations; build concession sales for revenue generation; assist with ensuring a quality experience for visitors to Mansfield University; possess and maintain a thorough knowledge of NCAA and PSAC regulations and have the ability to interpret, explain, and /or enforce as needed; work closely with the faculty athletics representative (FAR), athletic mentor and Athletics Director (AD) to monitor compliance and eligibility; oversee scheduling of contests; represent the University at meetings and activities of intercollegiate governing bodies; coordinate the operation of concessions at all athletic contests, including regular games, playoff contests, and other related athletic events; assist the AD with general administration in the areas of event management and promotional events; assist the athletics staff with fundraising for the intercollegiate athletics program; act as a liaison to various fundraising constituents; participate in all athletic department fundraisers including alumni and homecoming events; maintain athletic department policy manual and student-athlete handbook; and attend PSAC meetings if the AD is not able to attend.
Minimum requirements:
Masters degree plus two years experience in NCAA compliance and completion of a successful on-campus interview. Additional qualifications: Prior attendance at NCAA Regional Rules seminars; working knowledge of Title IX requirements; experience with budgeting and fundraising; experience with event planning and management; professional work experience with university students; and proficient computer skills (Excel, Word, and databases). Demonstration, through past accomplishments and behaviors, of the ability to support Mansfield University's principles and values of Character, Scholarship, Culture, Service (Company website-creed) and the University's strong student-centered vision and mission is required.
Preferred:
Master's degree; five years compliance experience at the collegiate level; and playing or coaching experience in the PSAC and NCAA Division II. Other conditions of employment are verification of all earned degrees through the receipt of original transcripts, acceptable background clearance check reports, authorization to be employed in the United States or the ability to obtain prior to commencement of employment, and positive references. Must possess a valid driver's license and have certification in CPR and First Aid within 6 months of employment and must maintain certification during employment.
