Job Description
Company Entertainment, a global leader in the video games and entertainment software industry, is currently seeking full-time Art Director for our San Francisco development studio. We are looking for a talented, motivated and experienced person to create and manage art development on an exciting AAA cross platform project. Qualified individuals are expected to be organized, with excellent communication skills, and have a proven track record in management and art direction for both internal and external outsourcing studios.
The ideal candidate is responsible of the content quality of the graphic production of the game and must assure that the visual elements are homogeneous and in line with the game’s vision.
Responsibilities:
-Define the graphic style of the game while being inspired by the creative direction (film references, other games and design documents)
-Establish the visual priorities in collaboration with the CP_Graphic
-Communicate to the graphic team the expectations in terms of the level of quality and content of the ambiance, decor, characters, etc… through good visual references and documents that describe the artistic direction for the graphic team’s reference.
-Develop graphic concepts and participate in the creation of maps (scales, composition and interactions) with the Creative Director and the Game Designer
-Know the platform’s limits, from motor to tools in order to orient the artists needs and the feasibility linked to the game’s engine.
-Validate the graphic team’s work so that the graphical elements are in line with the game’s vision or with the license and assure to meet the quality objectives.
-Work closely with the 3D programmers and the DT Graphic to assure the quality of the integration of the graphical data into the engine
-Play the game in order to detect any incoherencies of the integration
-Work closely with the CP_Graphic, DT_Graphic and Lead 3D programmer to optimize the effort linked to the innovation in the game and the quality of the graphical data produced.
Qualifications:
-AEC in 2D or 3D computer graphics, AEC in video games, Bachelor in Graphic Communication or any other relevant experience.
-3 to 5 years experience as a 3D artist or 1 to 2 years as an Assistant Artistic Director – Graphic or all other experiences related to the position
-In depth knowledge of the graphical trades (modeling, character modeling, special effects lighting, texturing);
-Possess a good artistic sense
-Know how to create an artistic document and apply it
-Knowledge of 2D and 3D computer graphics software
-Knowledge of the constraints related to the different game engines
-Drawing talent is an asset
-Knowledge of anatomy/object design/architecture is an asset
-Have a good general artistic culture is an asset
-Written and spoken French is an plus
