Account Manager, USA TODAY
As an Account Manager, you will serve as the critical interface between our clients and our brand. Using a consultative approach, you will manage existing accounts (including hotels, hospitals, automotive dealers) and identify new accounts to develop mutually-beneficial, profitable, long-term relationships that increase (or maintain) volume and revenue while exceeding customer satisfaction and retention objectives.
This position requires a highly self-motivated individual who is able to manage day-to-day, tactical needs of clients and national sales programs, identifying opportunities to create consistencies and efficiencies across the organization. This role will require an individual who can develop and nurture external and internal relationships to provide customers with first-class service. Working with and effectively communicating with management, publishers and local teams is a continuous and vital function of this position.
Responsibilities Include:
• Manage national and branded rate schedules to maximize volume and revenue from each location, including managing the national contract database, creating and maintaining respective sales collateral, ensuring compliance with negotiated programs and streamlining new location starts
• Activate against volume and revenue opportunities which requires a strong knowledge of products and processes, and log such activity in Company website to document relationship history
• Respond and resolve service issues that could interfere with volume and revenue opportunities
• Collaborate with National and Regional Sales to maximize volume and revenue opportunities
• Ensure accuracy of location databases and providing appropriate client reports
• Soup-to-nuts management of location accounts by working with internal teams to start or change existing locations, maximizing volume and revenue opportunities around non-publishing days and special editions, and serve as primary point of contact for these clients
• Identify and evangelize process and program improvements that make working with Company easier for our customers
• Manage and champion the tools and processes to make our organization operate efficiently, including Company website
• Manage sales priorities based on opportunity and potential challenges
• Be flexible to change, open to new ideas and strive towards finding better ways to grow our business
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 3+ years account management/relationship or inside sales experience with proven success in an inside sales environment
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
• Excellent sales skills with a proven record of success in a goal oriented, highly accountable environment
• Demonstrated success in delivering customer solutions based on needs
• Exceptional customer service, analytical, and follow up skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects effectively under deadline pressure
• Effective and creative problem solving and decision making skills
• Articulate and solid communicator
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required; Company website or other CRM preferred
• Located in the Washington, DC area is preferred
