Academic Coordinator
Job Details
The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, a liberal arts college that is located in the beautiful mountains of southwestern Virginia and a division of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, is currently seeking applications for a full-time, 12-month Academic Coordinator, a split position funded by both a TRIO Student Support Services grant and the office of Disability Services.
The Academic Coordinator will provide professional academic coaching for students served by both offices. The successful candidate will devise academic plans for students, monitor and document their progress, and provide referrals for other academic support resources, educational accommodations, and personal counseling services as needed.
Other required duties are presenting educational workshops, maintaining accurate records, providing reports, coordinating participant activities, and assisting with the recruitment and orientation of participants. Duties can also include assisting with promotional materials and social media.
Applicants must be organized, computer literate, demonstrate excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills, with a strong emphasis on the ability to interact well and work with students, faculty, and staff face-to-face on a daily basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Experience: Having similar backgrounds or experience working with underrepresented students is preferred, as is experience in higher education, academic coaching, or mentoring.
Salary is $38,000.
The position will remain open until filled. Start date will be August 2024.

Position Compensation Range: $12.61 - $25.22 Hourly
