In my previous role, I was responsible for subject matter expertise to Tax Department staff during the monthly closing process, preparation of variance analysis, reporting tax expense, and financial reporting of federal, state & local income taxes including the annual true up from filing of tax returns and the settlement of federal, state and local income tax audit examinations.

• Identifying continuous, sustainable improvement and simplification opportunities in the tax accounting and compliance area
• Managing the efficient and effective use of SAP tax calculator, Vertex and other tax accounting and compliance applications and templates
• Managing the calendar of scheduled submissions to regulators across multiple jurisdictions
• Ensuring the accurate preparation and timely submission of income tax returns
• Ensuring the accurate preparation and timely submission of indirect tax returns and withholding tax returns
• Managing the quality and timeliness of submissions to Tax Reporting
• Reviewing income tax provision calculations and reconciliations to ensure accurate tax balances are reported in the financial statements and that any issues identified are appropriately documented and communicated
• Assisting with preparation of statutory accounts for various jurisdictions

• Experience supporting telecom products/offer development
• Understanding of taxes, tax regulatory fees/surcharges and associated tax and tax regulatory concepts
• Strong technical knowledge of Sales and Tax Laws
• Experience with Transaction Tax Accrual Software such as Vertex
• Currently enrolled university students in a related study field (Engineering, Finance, Administration, Accounting)
• Strong understanding of state and local transaction tax laws and general accounting principles
• Excellent tax research skills, including mastery of Checkpoint, CCH and/or Lexis
• Fundamental knowledge of non-income based federal, state and foreign tax regimes, including but not limited to indirect, payroll, property and ad valorem taxes
