Manage and execute the footwear development process for developing prototype and samples, from initial concept through commercialization and production. Working with design team and creative director to convert a sketch into a three-dimensional sample that meets the correct design, fit and quality. Engineering the samples to guarantee manufacturability, cost and timing through the production process.

FOOTWEAR DEVELOPMENT

• Last Development: Works with design and Technical team to initiate and oversee the development of lasts based upon desired aesthetic, performance, comfort and fit while maximizing use of existing last library.
• Design analysis: with designers
• Upper Development and Industrialization: Pattern maker (handmade and CAD 2D/3D) development manages upper for yield, manufacturability, fit, function, cost and desired design.
• Material and Construction - Coordinates and maintains material and structural specifications as well as the follow through on the testing of each individual component to maintain standards for quality and elegance.
• Costing Objectives – Manages costing objectives for assigned projects and works with design to achieve project goals. This entails supplying necessary information needed for pre-costing exercises during review of product briefs, through tech. package development and final pricing of confirmation standards.
• Coordinate with design on leather for all concepts seasonally
• Spearhead all leather development (Leather/Fur/Exotic)
• Vendor liaison (existing & new): Leather selection/development (within budget)

Responsible for sourcing and developing new materials, for all production lines footwear-leather goods-RTW-home. Direct control and selection of raw materials in tannery especially crocodile.

Assist footwear director for developing footwear sample and production internal and external.

Responsible for sourcing and developing new materials, with focus on exotic leather and fur to assist footwear the development team and leather goods development team, in Italy and UK directly with the design team.

Attend Anteprima, Linea Pelle Milan and Premiere Vision Paris to pre-select, develop/counter source sample/production leather.

LEATHER MANAGEMENT

• Coordinate with design on leather for all concepts seasonally
• Spearhead all leather development (Leather/Fur/Exotic)
• Vendor liaison (existing & new): Leather selection/development (within budget)

• Co-ordinate leather CITES/shipment/overseas/domestic factories/in-house sample room
• Approving/commenting all tanning, dying, finishing.
• Negotiate leather prices and lead times
• Leather budget adherence, alignment with Design and CFO when issues arise
• Work with production/merch’ on allocation, pricing and margin goals
• Drive the leather development process to hit calendar Milestones
• MTO-MTM shoes Management
• Management of Seasonal color-card
• Coordinate with Merchandising for sales campaign
• PO/Invoice/Export-Import documents Management
• Manage direct reports
• Researching new producers-artisans-tannery to seek innovation and maintain margin
• Expertise in European, North America and Asian Customs ( customs duty architecture)
• Ensure all leather information in database is accurate and updated.
