Executive Director - California Youth Soccer Association
The Organization:
The California Youth Soccer Association – North (Cal North) is located in Pleasanton, CA, is one of the premier state associations of United States Youth Soccer (USYS) and the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), representing over approximately 10,000 teams & 125,000 coaches & league administrators throughout Northern California. Our service area extends south from the Oregon state line to a line across the state of California formed by the southern boundary lines of the following counties: Monterey, Kings, Tulare, and Inyo. We provide comprehensive soccer programming for youth of all ages and all skill levels. Cal North is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, organized in the State of California for the purpose of providing athletic opportunities for our community’s youth in the sport of soccer. Our motto is “Kids First”.
General Position Description:
The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the day-to-day management of all Cal North business operations, staff management, strategic growth and deployment of resources towards the Association's consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives. The ED carries out these responsibilities in accordance with the direction and policies as established by the Cal North Board, reporting directly to the Board Chairman.
Responsibilities:
• Provides general oversight to Cal North programs and activities, managing all the day-to-day business operations, and assures a smoothly functioning, efficient organization
• Manages all full-time and part-time staff and the human resource functions of the organization including establishing position descriptions, hiring, recruitment, performance evaluations, setting compensation levels, management of benefits program, discipline and termination, according to authorized personnel policies and procedures that fully conform to current laws and regulations
• Maintains oversight of the volunteers in accordance with Cal North policies
• Maintains a work environment that attracts, retains, and motivates a diverse staff of top quality people
• Develops the strategic plan in partnership with the Board and appropriate committees to enable the Association to meet both its short & long term goals
• Develops and recommends an annual budget for Board approval, and prudently manages the organization's resources within budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations
• Works with the Chief Financial Officer, Cal North Accountant and the Audit Committee to ensure that all appropriate accounting procedures are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Protects Cal North’s legal and non-profit interests and maintains its operations within the law
• Assures the filing of all legal and regulatory documents and monitors compliance with relevant laws and regulations
• Keeps the Board fully informed on the condition of the organization and on all the important factors influencing it
• Initiates, develops, and maintains cooperative relationships with current and potential corporate partners, vendors, philanthropic foundations, municipal and legislative agencies
• Serves as the spokesperson for Cal North & assures that the organization and its mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented in a strong & positive image to relevant stakeholders
• Travel as required in order to conduct business and represent the organization as applicable
