Position Purpose
Develop and execute a communications strategy that maintains and enhances NASCAR’s and PIR’s respective positions in the local, regional and national entertainment landscape.
Supervisory Responsibilities
• Communications Coordinator;
• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performances; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing and resolving problems;
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
Strategic Media Relations
• Local, regional and national industry relationships
• Media partnership development
Publicity generation through:
Story placements in sports, business, lifestyle and community
• Media driven events
• Community relations initiatives
• Website and internet communication strategies
Strategic relationship development within the industry
• Drivers
• Industry personalities
• Broadcast partners
• Sanctioning bodies
Internal Communication Initiatives
• Staff communications development (public speaking opportunities, publishing, etc.)
• Timely communications strategies of department initiatives and industry news to the organization
Event weekend responsibilities
• Media Center staffing and management
• Public Address staff management
• Facilitate communications links with competitors, sanction bodies and PIR
• Victory Lane
Other duties as assigned
Performance Measures
• Individual ticket sales/ event;
• Measurement of a “Q” rating (or similar benchmark) for the sport and PIR in the local, regional and national sports landscape;
• Development of an exposure measurement (possibly using clipping service), similar to what is provided to sponsors assigning a value to PIR and NASCAR related publicity and exposure that is generated.
Qualifications
BA/BS in PR/Communications/Marketing or related field; 5-7 years related experience in corporate communications role; professional public relations certification preferred.

Special Position Requirements
Available to work all professional race event weekends.
Position may require travel as requested.
