Nature of work
The WSF Director of Athletic Development will play a key role in developing the intermediate and long-term development efforts of Wayne State College Athletics. Primary responsibilities for this position will include a focus on major athletic donor gift identification, cultivation, stewardship and solicitation for facility projects, scholarship endowments and special projects; planning and coordinating special event fundraisers; corporate scholarship solicitation; and developing annual giving programs.
Responsibilities
*Assist the Wayne State Foundation with all fundraising campaigns, events, and activities.
*Manage a major gift portfolio of athletic prospects and donors along with allocating a portion of time to qualifying new prospects and donors.
*Manage donor visits for the solicitation and stewardship of gifts by the College President, Wane State Foundation CEO, Athletic Director, coaches and other staff, as needed.
*Provide donor service in all aspects of development program including annual CatClub memberships, athletic facility campaigns and athletic scholarships.
*Develop major gift marketing materials and proposals for athletics.
*Manage athletic special event fundraising events and golf tournament fundraisers.
*Regular attendance at WSC athletic events, meetings and events.
*This position requires evening and weekend work as well as some national travel.
Required Qualifications
*Bachelor's degree required.
*Minimum 2-3 years of demonstrated development experience or in a related field.
*Experience with planning and coordinating events.
*Experience working in customer relations.
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to speak in a public setting.
*Ability to think strategically and quickly summarize complex and detailed information.
*Ability to travel nationally for donor visits including weeknights and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
*Master's degree.
*Demonstrate understanding of how an intercollegiate Athletic Department operates.
*Experience working with student-athletes, coaches and athletic department personnel.
*Familiarity with Raisers-Edge or comparable fund-raising database.
