Men's Endurance Program Director and Head Track Coach with USA Cycling in Colorado Springs, CO
The Men’s Endurance Program Director and Head Track Coach will be responsible for leading USA Cycling’s Men’s Endurance program with a focus on men’s endurance track. This role will be the administrative leader and head coach for the program and will focus on identifying and developing a deep pool of world-class athletes while managing the logistics of training, competition, qualification and selection. The role will have a strong vision for the direction of the elite program as well as development of young talent. The Men's Endurance Program Director and Head Track Coach will also lead a team of assistant coaches, technical partners, and sport performance specialists to ensure our athletes receive the best possible equipment, training, and support. The position will work in close collaboration with many USA Cycling stakeholders including, but not limited to: USA Cycling Foundation (fundraising arm), USA Cycling’s sponsors and partners, the United States Olympic Committee, and the media. The Men’s Endurance Program Director and Head Track Coach will be responsible for the following:
◦ Execute short and long-term strategies and programs for building the men’s endurance track program into a consistently internationally competitive team.
◦ Responsible for ensuring athletes are supported at the highest possible level to achieve remarkable international success.
◦ Identify, recruit, and develop new talent for the program.
◦ Provide team leadership to the men’s endurance track team in multiple disciplines.
◦ Lead 20+ athletes, multiple staff members, and coordinate a wide range of external high performance partners and experts.
◦ Ensure athlete selection and program access processes are adhered to and implemented in a fair and transparent manner.
◦ Collaborate with all stakeholders for success in fundraising, sponsorship development, brand management, and external communications.
◦ Effectively recruit and manage support staff and partners.
◦ Execute day-to-day operations of the program to ensure the efficient use of financial and people resources.
◦ Oversee budget management for the program.
◦ Foster a supportive and positive environment which ensures the health and well-being of athletes and staff.
◦ Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
◦ Extensive sports administration skills and demonstrated leadership experience.
◦ Level 1 USA Cycling Coaching accreditation or equivalent.
◦ Possession of an outstanding body of professional experience and training.
◦ Proven success as an endurance cycling coach at the world-class level.
◦ Demonstrable, high-level knowledge of scientifically based cycling coaching and training techniques.
◦ Ability to effectively develop and lead teams.
◦ Ability to communicate a clear vision of outstanding international success which inspires others.
◦ Unimpeachable ethical standards with a strong commitment to clean sport and the well-being of athletes.
◦ Power to build positive, professional relationships with internal and external customers and members of the Cycling community.
◦ Strong decision making capabilities along with the ability to work independently.
◦ Positive, can-do attitude with ability to be creative in overcoming resource limitations.
◦ Willingness to work non-traditional work hours including weekends and some holidays.
Physical Requirements

◦ Work is performed both in an office environment, where noise levels are usually moderate, and in a sporting environment where noise levels can be high.

◦ Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
◦ The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear; use hands to handle or feel objects; and, stand, walk, climb, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Education
◦ Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Science (Master's Degree a plus!)
Experience
◦ Proven success as an endurance cycling coach at the world-class level
Software Utilized
◦ Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), team management software, training and performance analysis software, video editing software, cloud based file sharing systems
Travel
◦ 30%

◦ This is a full-time exempt position located in Colorado Springs, CO.
