The Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletics Trainer is responsible for coordinating the delivery of comprehensive health care services to all teams and student-athletes who participate in the intercollegiate athletic program at Oberlin College. This position is member of the athletics department senior administrative staff.
•Oversee the daily operation of the athletic training room facilities and services to ensure that all student-athletes receive equitable treatment and have equal access to sports medicine/athletic training services.
•Serve as the main contact for budget, medical record keeping, secondary insurance, risk management, and development of and adherence to sports medicine policies and procedures.
•Provide staff supervision and evaluation, and supervision of athletics training students. •Work in cooperation with the team physicians to the deliver health care to student-athletes and coordinate the scheduling of team physicians for practice, game and physician clinic coverage, as well as pre-participation physicals.
•Work in cooperation with the coordinators of strength & conditioning to provide injury prevention and sports performance programs for intercollegiate student-athletes.
•Develops and implements all emergency action plans for all athletics and recreation facilities, and intercollegiate athletics competition and practices.
•Develops and implements department-wide recommendations and policies on sports safety based on institutional, state, federal and governing body best practices.
•Work in cooperation with the athletic department coaches, administrators, and the sports medicine staff in areas of continuing education and issues pertinent to the health and well-being of student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics.
•Clinical athletic trainer for Oberlin College intercollegiate athletics teams; travel with assigned teams as appropriate.
•Evaluate and manage sports injuries occurring to Oberlin College intercollegiate athletes by providing initial care, referral (when necessary), treatment and rehabilitation.
•Comply with College, NCAC Conference, and NCAA guidelines, policies and regulations.

Education: Master’s degree required.
Experience: At least five years of related experience, with administrative responsibilities and technological skills and abilities
Certificates & Licenses:
• Current NATABOC certification.
• Licensed certified athletic trainer in the state of Ohio. (Must be licensed by start date.)
• Current First Aid, CPR and AED certification, per NATABOC standards.
