Plans and implements the communication and digital strategy for Nova Southeastern University's intercollegiate athletic teams and Department of Athletics. Creates and implements marketing strategies; and is responsible for planning, organizing and execution of strategies for conducting all special events.
Essential Job Functions:
Supervises and administers the creation and implementation of marketing strategies to increase attendance, revenue, and support for overall Athletic Program.
Develops a plan for the implementation of all aspects of the Shark Club, the Official Booster Club of NSU Athletics.
Represents the Department of Athletics (liaison), collaborating with the University Office of Development and University Relations on special projects.
Maintains consistent and extensive contact with Businesses, Corporate Sponsors, Alumni, Booster Members, and Volunteers for the purpose of increasing sponsorship, advertising and promotional opportunities with NSU Athletics.
Establishes internal relationships throughout the University, as well as the external relationships in the community, in an effort to ensure the accurate and efficient promotion of the NSU Department of Athletics and its 17 intercollegiate teams.
Collaborates on the design of marketing and promotional materials for NSU Athletic Events and the NSU Athletic Department.
Authorizes the dissemination of marketing and promotional materials both internally and externally from the Department of Athletics.
Implements annual updates to public exhibits in UC Arena, including NSU Athletics Hall of Fame display, Club Room trophy encasement, championship banners, as well as, athletic services building display.
Supervises the execution of game promotion, in-game entertainment, and other activities for all on-campus athletic events.
Represents the Department of Athletics (liaison) collaborating with Student Affairs for Homecoming Festivities and Student Life Achievement Awards.
Serves as liaison and manages partnerships for the Department of Athletics with website provider and SSC/PBC/NCAA for updates and coverage.
Formulates and monitors the Sports Information and Marketing Department's budget.
Directs and supervises media relations plan for the Sports Information Department, while promoting NSU on a state and national level.
Supervises the writing of press releases and feature stories to promote the Department of Athletics to the University as well as the local communities.
Supervises the production of an Athletics' weekly newsletter; yearly media guides and other publications pertaining to the athletic program.
Supervises the compilation and dissemination of statistics for all home and away events involving NSU teams.
Delegates the coordination of photographic necessities including team pictures, individual headshots, portraits and action shots.
Mentors, supervises and trains Sports Information and Marketing Staff (full-time, independent contractors and graduate assistants).
Delegates the implementation and utilization of student employees for the Sports Information Department.
Negotiates and facilitates contracts with independent contracting for audio & video streaming.
Oversees video board in game production at Rick Case Arena.
Serves as liaison for SSC Digital Network with SSC Office.
Serves as a member of the department's senior staff and game administrator.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
2. Excellent interpersonal skills.
3. Willingness and ability to work long hours and weekends.
4. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Photoshop and Layout Programs.
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business administration or Sports Administration
Required Experience:
Two (2) to three (3) years marketing or sports information experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master's Degree
2. Experience in a higher educational institution sports
3. Familiarity with NSU Athletics Program local community, prominent alumni, business leaders.
