DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Athletics - Sports Information, the Assistant Sports Information Director is responsible for furthering the mission of the University and the Department of Athletics. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, responsible for the organization and administration of sports information for 21 varsity sports at the University of Redlands, as related to game operations, statistical operations, pre- and post-game recaps, social media oversight, website maintenance, and other traditional sports information duties. The Assistant Sports Information Director must comply with all University, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) rules and policies.
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Operation of the PrestoSports statistics platform and The Automated Scorebook (Statcrew)
Management of Stretch Internet for live stats and Stretch Internet/Wirecast for live streaming
Covering home athletic events as a statistician, announcer, photographer, etc.
Writing press releases, post-game recaps, and season summaries
Maintenance of rosters, archives, and social media presence, including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook
Graphics design work, including photo editing, archiving, and developing graphics
Updating and enhancing a PrestoSports website on a daily basis
Assisting with the development and organization of annual golf tournament and biannual hall of fame event
Function as an active team member of the Department of Athletics
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate must possess a bachelor's degree and have a minimum of two years of postgraduate sports information or athletics communications experience, including writing and stat-taking, and have a clear understanding of the NCAA Division III philosophy and the role of physical education, recreational sports, and athletics in a private, liberal arts academic setting.
A master's degree is preferred.
Knowledge of PrestoSports is preferred. Sports assignments will be based on experience and strengths of the successful candidate.
