Job Purpose
Towson University is currently accepting applications for an Associate Athletic Director for Compliance. This position is responsible for the creation, implementation, and monitoring of a comprehensive NCAA rules compliance program, serves as the primary individual to secure CAA and NCAA compliance rules interpretations, and serves as the department liaison with Financial Aid, Enrollment Services and Residence Life. This position is designated as the Senior Compliance Administrator with the NCAA, is a member of Athletic Department Senior Staff and is a Sport Administrator for designated sports.
Description
The Associate Athletic Director for Compliance will provide direction, administrative oversight and supervision of Compliance Specialist and for head coaches as assigned; serve as a member of Athletics Senior Staff on AD Council. Oversee the NCAA eligibility process for all student-athletes, including but not limited to: serving as primary contact for the NCAA Eligibility Center. This position is responsible for evaluating initial eligibility, monitoring transfers to and from Towson University, including releases and eligibility; maintenance of all official rosters for each team, updating and maintaining records in NCAA Compliance Assistant. They will collect the necessary Towson, Conference and NCAA required forms from coaches and student-athletes in a timely manner necessary to determine eligibility, complete required NCAA and conference forms and data collection. Oversee efforts of the Compliance Specialist regarding monitoring and approving official and unofficial visits, contacts and evaluations, and other recruiting issues.
The Associate Athletic Director for Compliance will serve as the primary contact to secure CAA and NCAA compliance rules and interpretations. Develop a comprehensive NCAA rules education program for coaches, staff, student-athletes, prospects, parents and other constituents. Develop monitoring programs for all areas of NCAA compliance, including but not limited to: playing & practice seasons, recruiting records, camps & clinics, complimentary tickets, coaches' certification test, etc. Serve as the primary liaison with Financial Aid to coordinate athletic grant awarding. Coordinate with the Compliance Specialist to communicate with the financial aid liaison, coordinate offers of athletic aid and monitoring of team and individual limits. Provide financial aid notice of cancellations, non-renewals and reductions of athletic aid. Assist student-athletes when problems occur with the awarding of athletic aid and complete all athletic department award letters and National Letters of Intent. Coordinate NCAA Special Assistance program and monitor employment earnings. Report rules violations to the conference office and NCAA, prepare waiver requests, assist with completion of NCAA, EADA, Board of Regents and conference reports, assist with production of publications, such as, Student-Athlete Handbook and Compliance Manual. Maintain PeopleSoft records for student-athletes. They will serve as an advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the primary advisor for the Governance & Student-Athlete Services Subcommittee of SAAC. They will also serve on the advisory board and selection committee for the Leadership Enhancement and Development (LEaD) Tiger program. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Deputy Director of Athletics.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and three years of Compliance experience at a Division I institution, conference office or NCAA national office. Thorough knowledge of NCAA rules, ability to build relationships and communicate well with various constituencies, strong writing skills. Skills include organization, maintaining confidential information, creating rules education, and ability to collaborate across campus. Master's degree and experience as a student-athlete preferred.
