Position Focus:
Oversee Yale University's compliance with NCAA and Ivy League legislation, as well as institutional policies and procedures pertaining to intercollegiate athletics. Ensure and monitor that the University's athletic programs and employees are compliant with all NCAA and Ivy League rules and regulations. Ensure effective operation of compliance monitoring systems, assess eligibility of student-athletes to represent the institution, and advise campus constituents on legislation, policies, and procedures related to intercollegiate athletics.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Supervise the execution, monitoring, and evaluation of a comprehensive compliance system as they pertain to institutional, Ivy League conference and NCAA rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Review and audit procedures on a regular basis to ensure compliance systems are operating effectively.
2. Ensure personal continued knowledge and expertise of all Ivy League and NCAA rules and new legislation.
3. Determine, project, advise, and monitor incoming and current student-athlete academic, competition, and transfer eligibility.
4. Ensure and monitor that the University’s athletic programs and employees are in compliance with all NCAA and Ivy League rules and regulations, including monitoring of:a. student-athlete initial and continuing academic eligibility,b. student-athlete employment, c. student-athlete outside competition, d. student-athlete promotional activities, ande. CARA activities.
5. Monitor official and unofficial visits to campus by prospective student-athletes in regards to NCAA and Ivy League rules.
6. Oversee department’s educational efforts regarding NCAA, Ivy League and departmental rules and regulations to all internal and external constituents.
7. Interpret NCAA and Ivy League legislation, as well as institutional policies, for athletics administrators, coaches, student-athletes, faculty, boosters, and other staff/constituencies.
8. Monitor recruiting efforts of all department members based on their role (e.g., countable coaches, non-coach staff members, department administrators, etc.).
9. Prepare reports to document compliance with NCAA and/or Ivy League legislation.
10. Author initial/continuing eligibility, legislative relief, student-athlete reinstatement, medical hardship and other waivers for submission to NCAA and/or the Ivy League staff. Identify and evaluate case precedent, collect relevant documentation, and conduct adequate investigation to prepare the strongest case possible.
11. Conduct thorough investigations of known, alleged or potential rules violations in accordance with institutional policies and procedures. Report violations as required.
12. Supervise other compliance staff.
13. Responsible for all accurate and timely submission of all NCAA and Ivy League required reporting (e.g., SAOF & Academic Enhancement Fund Usage, Sponsorship & Demographic Reporting, APR, GSR, etc.).
14. Ensure compliance with intercollegiate athletics program reporting requirements by assuming responsibility for filing all NCAA certification forms, squad list forms, drug consent forms, student-athlete statements, annual NCAA disclosure study, and other related forms as required by NCAA and Ivy League.
15. Advise the university and department on all legislative matters regarding NCAA rules and issues.
16. Maintain the compliance policy and procedures manual for athletics department.
17. Represent Yale University at selected Ivy or NCAA meetings.18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:Bachelor’s Degree in related field and six years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. JD Degree Preferred.
Advanced knowledge of NCAA manual, interpretations, and processes. Sound commitment to the academic and athletic mission of the University
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Ability to perform accurate, detail-oriented work with confidential information in a timely and professional manner.
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to make presentations. Demonstrated experience with managing multiple tasks, and proven ability to work with a diverse population. Dynamic and professional interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of Ivy League rules and philosophy.
