The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking a Director of Social Media. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Athletic Director.
The mission of the OSU Department of Athletics is to Go Build Excellent, Authentic, Visionary Student-Athletes (GO B.E.A.V.S.).
Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director (AD) for Ideation, the Director of Social Media creates, directs, and provides education on all aspects of primary social media accounts.
The incumbent should remain a thought leader in this space and be relevant in national conversation regarding best practices with this medium.
The position maintains quality control in the department with respect to managing the brand through social media.
Provides ongoing analytic feedback to the department regarding reach and return on investments of initiatives and campaigns.
Ultimately delivers new revenue streams to the department as well as increasing the traditional revenue streams around ticket sales, premium experiences, and donations.
May supervise one or more full-time staff members.
Minimum.Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sports Management or related field.
Three (3) years of experience working closely with social media, content creation, or related field.
Demonstrable experience in social media.
Ability to multi-task in an exciting and fast paced environment.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
Preferred Qualifications
Six (6) years of experience in Division I Athletics in Media Relations or Sports Information.
Experience covering a sport with deep NCAA Tournament experience (Round of 16 or better).
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
