The Executive Director will focus on developing the mission and vision of the organization, as well as drive each department head to push towards the vision. The Director will develop and manage the organization’s budget and work with the Assistant Director of Member Services to oversee all HR & payroll functions. The Executive Director regularly reports back to the OFA Board and serves as their main point of contact. They will work with each Assistant Director to develop revenue generating initiatives and actively seek grants and community donors. The Executive Director will also focus on community outreach, advocating and representing youth soccer in Southern Oregon, and building relationships & benchmarking with other soccer clubs, recreation facilities and programs, and leagues. The Executive Director will oversee all Assistant Director performance, development, and evaluations.
Job Duties
Administrative
• Recommend development of existing and new recreation programs, services, and facilities to benefit community needs and wants; directs the development, implementation, administration, and evaluation of all programs and services
• Oversee the Department of Member Services, Department of Operations & Facilities, and the Department of Coaching Education and Player Development
• Participate as an engaged liaison to the Board of Directors
• Coordinate the planning and initiation of facility improvements
• Provide management, leadership, and insight to ensure quality facilities and programs
• Develop and administer sound risk management practices for all operating units
• Direct the development and review of policies and procedures to ensure consistency throughout OFA, as well as participate in state and national level youth soccer policy making bodies
• Develop and implement a strategic plan outlining short-term and long-term goals, objectives, and action plans
• Identify and initiate the process to assess and analyze programs and functions in order to ensure consistency with stated goals and objectives associated with the mission and strategic plan
Fiscal Management
• Prepare the program budget; assist in budget implementation; participate in the forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; administer the approved budget
• Develop, implement, and administer sound fiscal policy for all operating units
• Management of substantial budget and overall financial authority of Oregon Futbol Academy
• Develop and maintain sources of revenue relating to facility and program needs
• Seek, develop, propose and justify grants in relation to facilities, programs, and services
• Review and approve priorities and needs for equipment purchases
• Report annual budget and subsequent changes and needs to the Board of Directors
Club and Community Public Relations
• Develop formal and informal communication systems to foster and open an effective working relationship with club staff and the larger OFA community
• Collaborate with community partners to advance OFA programs and facilities in the state of Oregon
• Develop positive rapport and communication with local high school personnel and athletic directors
• Oversee the development of marketing initiatives and strategies for increasing facility and program usage
• Serve as an advocate for recreational needs and programs within the southern Oregon community
• Serve as a resource to local recreation organizations and the Board in matters related to OFA facilities, programs, and services
• Serve on local committees and state level, recreation or youth sport focused committees
Supervisor Duties
• Oversee the hiring, training, supervision, and performance evaluation, take corrective action, assign and schedule work, and act upon leave requests of Assistant Directors
• Direct supervision, support, and mentorship of Assistant Directors & appropriate administrative staff. Indirect supervision, support, and mentorship of other OFA staff members, community members, players and volunteers, to include coaches
• Ensure a safe and quality working environment for all employees
• Actively engage in recruitment and hiring new employees
• Clearly define performance expectations, ensure accountability, and provide ongoing informal feedback, coaching, and mentoring (conducts formal performance evaluations)
• Ensure employees have necessary resources
• Promote professional development opportunities
• Develop and foster supportive working relationships, motivation and engagement
• Communicate information to staff on an ongoing basis to influence staff engagement and to be a part of a larger Grants Pass community
• Adjust leadership style as needed to achieve results
• Other duties as assigned and as identified
Minimum Qualifications
• Passion for the sport of soccer and working with youth
• Pass a thorough background check and obtain CPR certification within 30 days of hire
• Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Administration, Sports Management, Physical Education, Higher Education Administration, or related field and significant experience with progressively increasing responsibility in the management of recreation programs and facilities
• Demonstrated experience in preparation of budgets and the financial management of multiple entities
• Demonstrated experience in the total development (design, staffing, budgeting, and marketing), implementation, and evaluation of an integrated and comprehensive recreational and fitness programs and services to a diverse community
• Strong commitment to customer service
• Experience in the development of short and long-range plans for financial and programmatic improvements
• Risk management knowledge and experience as related to youth soccer, recreational facilities and programs, and the service industry
• Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills
• OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Recreation Administration, Sports Management, Physical Education, Higher Education Administration, Organizational Leadership or related field
• Strong commitment to non-profit, community focused development and experience working with advisory boards
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity
• Additional professional certifications and development within the recreation and/or soccer field
• Experience using software associated with recreation programs

NOTES:
Additional Salary Information: Salary: $65,000-$80,000 annually; commensurate with experience Schedule/Appointment: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (1 hour lunch), may require some nights and weekends Working Conditions: Work is most often performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions. Work is also performed outdoors, on fields, sometimes in hot, sunny, cold, wet, and/or snowy conditions. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer work station for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records. Some evening or weekend work and/or occasional travel may be required.
