Associate Athletics Director for Facility and Event Operations
Penn State University Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA), a Division I, Big Ten Conference member institution, with 31 varsity sports, over 800 student-athletes and more than 20 athletic facilities is seeking an experienced administrator to serve as the Associate Athletics Director for Facility and Event Operations. This leadership position has direct oversight of several work units within Intercollegiate Athletics at Penn State: Football Game Day Operations and Management; Outdoor Athletic Facilities and Field Maintenance; Indoor Facilities and Building Coordinators; Event Management; and Athletics Information Technology.
The Associate Athletic Director manages more than 35 full-time ICA employees and is responsible for staffs (full-time, part-time, bargaining unit, contractors) tasked with general operations, event management, scheduling, maintenance and management of ICA indoor and outdoor facilities and grounds, and on-going capital project planning. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Athletics and serving as a member of the ICA Management Team, the Associate Athletics Director will be instrumental in shaping and implementing ICA's comprehensive Facilities Master Plan. In addition, the Associate Athletics Director serves as the Safety Officer for ICA and works collaboratively with several units on campus including the Office of Physical Plant, University Police and Public Safety, Transportation and Parking Services, Campus Recreation, and Risk Management. The successful candidate will manage multi-million dollar operational and major maintenance budgets, as well as strategic/long-range planning for ICA's physical infrastructure.
The Associate Athletics Director also may assume sport administrator duties and responsibilities depending upon their interest and previous experiences. This position will require evening and weekend hours.

This job will be filled as a level 4, or level 5, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus nine years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 4. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs.
A Master's degree is preferred. Experience managing and leading diverse staffs. Strong budget planning and management skills, including project management.
Demonstrated success managing complex capital projects and working collaboratively across multiple stakeholders to yield intended outcomes.
This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
