Associate Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life - Campus Life & Inclusive Excellence
Job Description
Campus Life and Inclusive Excellence (CLIE) is the student affairs division of the University of Denver. CLIE includes Housing and Residential Education, Academic Resources, Student Community Engagement, Health and Counseling, and the Center for Multicultural Excellence.

Position Summary
The Fraternity and Sorority Life is part of the area Student Engagement. This area is the centralized hub for student resources and activities at the University of Denver. It encompasses:
Student Activities and Leadership Orientation Center for Multicultural Excellence (CME) Volunteers In Partnership (VIP) University Chaplain Veterans Services Each of these offices supports the student experience by providing unique programs, services and facilities designed to foster student development and help students find their passion and purpose. This position will require some evenings, weekends and holidays.
Essential Functions
Advises the 21-members of the executive boards of the Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, Panhellenic Association and the chapter presidents of their member organizations. Supervises two graduate staff members in executing the responsibilities of their assistant ships.
Engages with chapter volunteers, including chapter advisors and facility corporation board members, regularly through weekly emails and quarterly in person meetings designed to provide resources, discuss opportunities for community growth, and cultivate their relationship with the University.
Manages the check in/out process, damages process, auditing placements, charges, and entering the bookings of new students into StarRez for all FSL properties.
relates and manages the room selection and room change processes for FSL.
Charges or adjusts students accounts as appropriate with assistance from HRE.
Prepares visual check information at the beginning of each term.
Coordinates and manages facilities concerns.
Oversees process for students looking to be released from their FSL housing contract.
Oversees the 10-property residential community, including the supervision of 5 house directors.
Responds to crisis incidents as a professional staff member on-call for a population of 250 residents. Coordinates logistics for Panhellenic formal recruitment of 300 potential new members throughout a 4-day process and Interfraternity Council recruitment of 250 potential new members throughout a two-week process.
Manages the office budget, including tracking expenditures, monthly reconciliation, and future planning.
Adjudicates, in conjunction with the Office of Student Conduct, any University policies or state, local, and federal law.
Responsible for planning large-scale community collaborative programming with students and University staff.
Organizes the annual retreat for chapter presidents and council leaders focusing on personal identity exploration, inclusive leadership, and community development.
Promotes FSL membership opportunities to current and prospective students, parents, and community members through presentations and representation at informational fairs and orientation programs. Implements a chapter accreditation and chapter awards process that focuses on individual chapter goal pursuits rather than predetermined blanket benchmarks for chapters regardless of council and size. Participate in the hiring, training, and supervision of Program Administrators (graduate assistants) in the Student Transitions and Leadership Development. Initiate and coordinate programming and Greek specific initiatives with the Center for Advocacy Prevention and Empowerment Initiate and coordinate programming with Campus Safety on risk reduction.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills, including ability to present effectively to a variety of audiences and interact effectively across variety of campus constituents. Ability to collaborate with departments across the university. Demonstrated commitment to embedding principles of diversity, equity and inclusion into job responsibilities. Ability to problem solve and support students in navigating challenges and accessing available resources on campus. Experience with Banner, 25Live, and StarRez.
Required Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs or related field. 3 years post-Master’s degree experience advising fraternities/sororities. 3 years post-Master’s degree with experience in higher education developing and implementing student-focused programs. 3 years post-Master’s degree supervising graduate and undergraduate student staff. Proven experiences with student leadership development, creating inclusive excellence within programming efforts and relationship building with faculty. Experience with StarRez housing system for Greek housing. Experience integrating NPC, IFC, NPHC and MGC organizations to work collaboratively on a college or university campus. Demonstrated commitment to embedding principles of diversity, equity and inclusion into job responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs or related field. 5+ years post-Master’s degree in advising fraternities/sororities, student organizations or related. 5+ years post-Master’s degree supervising full-time staff in Fraternity and Sorority Life, Student Activities and other related areas. Two years managing Fraternity and Sorority housing placements including crisis intervention and auditing housing processes.
Work Schedule
University is open M-F, 8:00am-4:30pm with some weekends, evenings and holidays.
