NOTICE OF POSITION VACANCY University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics
Position: Assistant Director Marketing Twelve month, 100% Academic Professional Appointment Primary Position Function: Generate revenue and attendance for Illinois Athletics while building and protecting the Illinois Athletics brand. Primary focus will be developing and implementing marketing plans for varsity athletics, with heavy concentration on women’s sports. This position will also be responsible for student outreach initiatives on campus.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
1.Create and execute marketing plans for assigned sport programs sports. This may include, but not be limited to: Women’s Basketball or Softball
2.Assist in the implementation of plan to increase revenue and attendance with primary focus on group initiatives; Work may include support in game and at postseason and holiday events
3.Assist with advising Illini Pride student support group
4.Work with Greek organizations to build programming and ticket sales initiatives
5.Work with international student organizations and campus departments to coordinate events to engage international students
6.Work athletic and community events as assigned, including but not limited to Fan Appreciation Day, Family Fun Fest, Stuff Huff, and other events
7.Maintain knowledge of and compliance with specific NCAA, Big Ten Conference and institution rules.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field required.
Experience:
Minimum two years employment experience in intercollegiate athletics with previous marketing or public relations background required. Demonstrated knowledge of marketing techniques and strategies, excellent communication and computer skills, ability to perform detail-oriented yet creative work and be willing to handle multiple public speaking assignments required. Ability to sell through speech, writing, and direct selling skills is important. Graphic design skills and ability to use Adobe Creative Suite software is preferred. Must work well in a team environment with full-time marketing staff members, student workers, coaches, other athletic department staff members, campus staff, and members of the greater community.
