Maryville University seeks an innovative and experienced leader for the Director of Athletics and Recreation position. This individual will provide leadership, direction and operational management for all aspects of NCAA Division II men’s and women’s athletic and recreation/intramural programs. Maryville is a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, the nation’s premier Division II conference, and currently offers 22 collegiate sports and 24 club sports. Maryville’s ESports program claimed two national titles and the first American team to win the Collegiate League of Legends title.
The successful candidate will be a team player capable of working with senior leadership to craft an Athletics program that is outstanding inside and outside the classroom.
We seek an individual who will foster an athletic program that clearly aligns with the University’s strategic goals and initiatives. Maryville is also planning a major investment in athletic facility enhancements and expansion; the successful candidate will be instrumental in planning and implementing that investment.
Primary Job Functions:
•Recruit, hire, supervise and evaluate coaches and administrative staff within the Department of Athletics and Recreation.
•Ensure that the University maintains full compliance with NCAA and GLVC standards, rules and regulations.
•Maintain Maryville’s reputation as an outstanding place for student-athletes to pursue and attain their academic goals, (Five-year winner of the NCAA Division II President’s award for Academic excellence).
•Develop and manage a highly effective administrative team focused on excellence, customer service and student success where Athletics is an integrated component of the University.
•Demonstrates a commitment to diversity and fostering a culture of civility and mutual respect.
•Develop and maintain the highest level of sports programming for men’s and women’s athletics teams, recreation/intramural activities and club sports.
•Fiscal responsibility in budgeting, fundraising and facility upgrades

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
• Experience serving as a director of athletics at an institution of higher education with demonstrated ability to recruit, manage and lead coaches and administrative staff.

• Demonstrated success in monitoring a comprehensive budgeting process and overseeing an annual fundraising effort.
