SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of Athletics/Communications oversees all public relations and media relations activities and budgets, including supervision of full-time, part-time, student, and game day staff. The Assistant AD/Communications is ultimately responsible for promoting Richmond Athletics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage daily operations of the Athletics Public Relations department. Manage all PR staff, including assignment of sports and duties. Develop and implement media/public relations/promotional strategies and messaging for the department. Serve as primary contact for at least one sport, possibly multiple sports. Serve as managing editor of all content posted on every official athletic department medium (i.e. website, social media etc…). Collaborate with marketing staff to develop and execute marketing and promotions plans for specified sports. Responsible for the development of radio, television, website, social media business opportunities and strategies. Also responsible for managing agreements with graphic designers and printing companies for the purposes of producing athletic department publications. Manage the budget for the Athletic Public Relations department and the budget for broadcasts.
WORK HOURS:
Full-time, exempt position Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week Requires work on weekends and nights during football & basketball seasons and possibly at other times during the year SALARY STRUCTURE: Pay Grade 7 To see more detailed salary information please review the University of Richmond's Compensation Structure.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Working knowledge (or ability to quickly acquire working knowledge) of Pagemaker, Quarkxpress
• Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and StatCrew is ideal.
• Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are required.
• A thorough knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations is essential to this position.
• Adherence to all applicable NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations is required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• Previous experience in public relations and/or athletic communications at the collegiate or professional level (at least 5 years).
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
