SUMMARY:
Associate Athletic Director for Compliance/Internal Operations will report to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for ensuring departmental compliance with all MSU Denver, NCAA, and RMAC rules and regulations. This position will provide leadership and oversight of a comprehensive Division II compliance program in all matters pertaining to the monitoring, interpreting, educating, documenting and investigating of all institutional, NCAA and conference rules and regulations; as well as submitting required NCAA and RMAC reports and serving as liaison to the NCAA and RMAC on all compliance rules interpretations. This position will also serve on the senior leadership team within the Department of Athletics and will participate in the development and coordination of programs, policies, and procedures for all sport.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
50% Compliance for the Department of Athletics: Establish appropriate departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all NCAA, RMAC and university rules and regulations; as well provide rules education to both internal and external constituents in order to ensure a culture of compliance and institutional control at MSU Denver.
• Provide rules education to coaches, boosters, student-athletes, and staff regarding university, conference, and NCAA eligibility legislation.
• Arrange and conduct pre-season NCAA certification meetings to coordinate completion of compliance forms.
• Collaborate with Associate AD/xxx for Student Services to monitor progress-towards-degree and other NCAA, conference and university academic eligibility requirements.
• Complete required conference and NCAA compliance reports.
• Serve as liaison with NCAA Eligibility Center.
• File waivers and process release (e.g. hardship, two-year college transfer).
• Monitor playing and practice season limitations for intercollegiate sports.
• Monitor receipt of recruiting logs for intercollegiate sports.
• Prepare eligibility lists for all intercollegiate sports.
• Collaborate with the offices of Financial Aid, Registrar and Admissions to ensure accurate certification of initial and continuing student-athlete eligibility.
• Collaborate with the Associate AD/xxx Student Services to prepare departmental and conference academic reports.
30% Internal Operations: Assist the Director of Athletics in the review and development of appropriate internal operating policies and procedures to enhance overall departmental efficiency, oversight and processing of scholarship budget, and work on special projects as assigned.
• Assist the Director of Athletics in implementing the department’s strategic plan.
• Develop and update athletic program policies and procedures, compliance manual, student-athlete handbook, educational materials, and ensure operating efficiency throughout the department.
• May provide oversight and coordination for the 5th year student-athlete program.
• May provide oversight in the coordination of athletic schedules/contracts across all sports as well as assist with event coverage and team travel.
• Utilize web-based services such as LSDBI, CAi, and Banner.
• May serve as the departmental alternate on the Budget Task Force or other committees.
• May prepare and submit NCAA Tournament bids across all sports.
15% Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will also serve on the athletics department senior leadership team and will assist the Director of Athletics in providing oversight for the department, as well as participate in the development and coordination of programs, policies, and procedures for all sports.
• Serve on the MSU Denver Athletic Advisory Committee.
• Supervise assigned staff and students.
• Assist with Game-Day operations, event coverage, and team travel.
• May serve as sport administrator for designated sport(s).
Other duties as assigned: 5%

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Five years of experience working in athletics compliance, which includes experience implementing/leading an NCAA athletics compliance program.
• Knowledge of and experience utilizing technology (e.g. CAi, Banner, LSDBi, RSRO, Recruiting Software).
• Detail oriented and exceptional organizational skills.

• Master’s Degree.
• More than five years of advanced experience working in athletics compliance, which includes experience implementing/leading a NCAA Division II athletics compliance program.
• Extensive knowledge of NCAA Division II and RMAC rules and regulations.
• Experience managing scholarship and operating budgets.
