The purpose of this position is to manage the athletic communications office’s public and media relations activities for all intercollegiate athletics sports with a primary emphasis on football.
Supervision of all full-time employees in the unit, part-time employees and student workers.
Work with the Senior Associate Athletic Director, Communications on creation and implementation of a comprehensive communications strategy for Oregon Athletics that focuses on optimizing the positive brand image via local, regional, and national exposure of all athletics programs.
Maintain working expertise of rule interpretations for all intercollegiate sports to comply with Pacific-12 Conference and NCAA statistical requirements as well as historical documentation.
Responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics programs, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the university, Pac-12 Conferences and the NCAA.

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
• Minimum of five years of full-time experience in a field of professional or collegiate athletic communications or a minimum of eight years of equivalent experience in a field of public communications.
Professional Competencies
• Demonstrated ability to work within a team culture, lead a communications department, and develop, direct, and implement communications efforts for nationally recognized athletic teams.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with media.
• Strong and proven writing/editing skills.
• Demonstrated understanding of all forms of digital media required.
• Clear understanding of NCAA rules and compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience in football communications at the professional or collegiate level.
• Proven experience supervising full-time employees and leading communication departments.
