Assists in providing leadership and direction for an assigned area within the athletic department. Responsible for the development, coordination, and administration of the department. Responsible for employees in the assigned area.
• Plan, develop, coordinate and perform marketing and promotional activities for and in conjunction with Texas Tech’s 17 varsity athletic teams.
• Coordinate on-field and on-court presentations with University and external groups and individuals at various sporting and special events.
• Manage community relations events.
• Partner with several other athletic department and campus units to effectively promote Texas Tech Athletics.
• Serve as athletics liaison to university spirit groups including band, cheer, High Riders and Saddle Tramps.
• Work closely with ticket office to develop ticket promotions plans for selected sports in order to promote fan attendance.
• Manage the day to day operations of the Promotions and Fan Engagement unit, including 3 assistant directors, a full-time intern and Street Team.
• Implement programs designed to promote and increase attendance of university students at home athletic events
• Manage, train and lead full-time staff members of promotions and fan engagement unit.
• Work closely with outside entities and venues to ensure Texas Tech Athletics meets contractual obligations and that the atmosphere at these venues puts athletics in a positive light.
• Manage game day operations of selected Texas Tech athletic events and provide assistance in other assigned sports.
• Comply with all NCAA, Big 12 and Texas Tech University rules, regulations and policies.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Three (3) years experience in an intercollegiate athletics department or other work experience that would demonstrate the necessary background and knowledge. Must have a working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters degree in a related field, NCAA Division I experience in marketing, promotions, ticket sales, and/or promotions.
• Commitment to customer service.
