Binghamton University is searching for an Associate Athletic Director for Financial Operations.The position reports directly to the Director of Athletics.
Responsibilities include:
•Performing professional accounting and administrative services for the Athletics department. The position approves, verifies, and provides oversight on the processing of all financial transactions for the athletics department, including the review of revenues, disbursements, reconciliations, and other financial analyses. The position implements and formulates fiscal controls and policies to ensure compliance with University, State, Federal, NCAA Division I, America East Conference rules and regulations.
•Financial reporting as required by the NCAA, America East Conference, University, and EADA.
•Monitors all fiscal and budgetary matters within the Athletics department. Provide periodic financial and budget reports to the Director, departments, and coaches.
•Liaison with auditors, University and State officials, external parties.
•Supervise 3 full time staff and student assistants.
•Duties related to travel, budgeting, human resources, accounts payable, and general ledger.
•Recommend cost and operational improvements in athletics to improve efficiency and compliance. Develop operational procedures for monitoring financial transactions to ensure accurate recording and strong fiscal management.
•Establish and maintain internal controls over financial systems. Incorporate any compliance requirements into the control mechanisms.

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting (or related business/finance program)
• Prior work experience in an accounting or business/finance setting with similar job duties
• Familiarity with personnel, financial aid, travel reimbursement, purchasing and budgeting policies and procedures
Preferred:
• CPA degree
• Advanced degree and certifications
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
• Supervisory experience
• Experience working within higher education/Athletics
• Competence in managing complex situations and resolving problems effectively and efficiently
