About the College
Lafayette is an independent, highly selective, coeducational institution of approximately 2,500 students. The College is located in the City of Easton, which, together with Allentown, Bethlehem and adjacent communities, makes up the Lehigh Valley. The Valley is rich in history and comprises Pennsylvania’s third largest metropolitan area, with a population of over 800,000. In contrast to this urban dimension, the Lafayette campus borders on rolling farmland that stretches north to the Pocono Mountains.
The College’s curriculum is distinguished by the rare combination, on an undergraduate campus, of degree programs in the liberal arts and in engineering. Lafayette students may choose among a range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary courses and pursue the Bachelor of Arts degree in 37 fields or the Bachelor of Science degree in 14 fields of science and 4 fields of engineering.
In addition to a campus of great beauty, Lafayette offers a well-equipped physical plant. A library supports its programs with over 475,000 volumes and an extensive array of electronic resources. The College offers modern computer facilities and laboratories, a new science center, a thriving Center for the Arts, a large College Center for dining and other communal activities, a new and expansive recreation complex, and an athletic complex compatible with its intercollegiate Patriot League commitment. A residential college, Lafayette offers its students a wide variety of living options, and approximately 96% of students live in college-supervised housing, both on and off campus. Position Summary The Director of Athletics is responsible for providing leadership and management for the College’s NCAA Division I (FCS Football) intercollegiate athletics program in a way that promotes the College’s mission and vision. Lafayette College is a member of the Patriot League and participates in 23 varsity sports.
