The Assistant Director of Marketing and Fan Engagement has two primary responsibilities within the Athletics Department. First, this position will increase exposure for UI Athletics in the local communities, the campus, and regional by creating, developing, implementing, and executing our fan engagement plan, and all the initiatives included under this umbrella. Second, this position is also responsible for creating and developing marketing plans for varsity sports; creating game scripts to match those game marketing plans; and organizing many other special events.
Job Duty Function I. Increases Exposure for Vandal Athletics by:
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Creating and developing marketing plans, campaigns and advertising plans for the varsity sports of volleyball, women’s basketball, soccer, swimming and diving, men’s and women’s tennis, track & field, men’s and women’s golf and cross country; Collaborating with the football and men’s basketball game day marketing operations; Independently developing and implementing strategies to increase student attendance at athletic events; Implementing and supervising Junior Joe Kids Club (youth fan club); Create, implement and execute fan engagement plans for all sports and once completed evaluate programs and make changes when necessary Serve as liaison with the Vandalizers the official student athletic group; Creating and representing exhibits at local events; Collaborating with traditional as well as electronic communications to alumni, students, faculty staff and fans; Supervising the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC); Collaborating with the Chamber of Commerce and other community organizations; Arranging for coaches and student athletes to interact with the campus and community; Liaison to ASUI (Associated Students of the University of Idaho); Supervising the distribution of promotional materials; Overseeing Athletics social media accounts.
Job Duty Function II. Supports Game Day Operations and Ticket Sales by:

Independently creating game scripts to match supervised sports; Managing on field/court game promotions and events; Supervise undergraduate marketing interns; Collaborating in the advertising efforts to promote ticketed events.
Job Duty Function III. Ensures marketing commitments made by Athletics are fulfilled by:

Reviewing marketing/advertising agreements for fulfillment; Managing the use and disbursement of athletics department promotional gear.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field;
Excellent organizational and communication skills;
Proven ability and to be creative in marketing plans and or/in fan engagement;
1-3 years experience in public relations, sales or marketing;
Ability to effectively and efficiently multi-task;
Possess and demonstrate interpersonal relationship skills and the ability to work independently in a multi-layered team environment while fostering positive relationships, teamwork, and cooperation to successfully meet organizational goals;
Demonstrated commitment to customer service:
Proven ability to take an idea and implement that idea into a plan and to execute that plan to a successful outcome;
Willingness to work odd hours and weekends;
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and creative design programs (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in applicable field;
Experience in:
public relations
marketing – preferably in intercollegiate athletics
graphic design
fan engagement
advising large groups of students
Demonstrated ability in:
coordinating special events
goal setting
program planning
Photoshop or graphics program
Excel and/or Access data base applications
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Available to work odd hours and weekends
